How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Coming home.
Haslemere had everything we needed and is a beautiful property which retained some original features adding to it's overall feel. It was clean, well furnished and a lovely place to stay. Parking permit for the duration of our stay was a nice touch, and location is perfect, close to pubs, restaurants and of course the beach.

It could do with curtains on the bedroom windows as the rooms were very light early in the morning, no chance of a lie in. Beds were very soft so not the comfiest
The property is very spacious throughout and very clean and comfortable, it's right in the centre of Beer so only a short distance to the beach 😀

Pre-arrival communication was a bit difficult - I received no reply to my email, but instead the initial welcome email was resent a few times. I called and had to wait around 15 min for someone to answer, then someone finally phoned me later to say they received my email. I guess it's all very automated and through more than one intermediary companies administrating the property.
Superb location, very close to the Beer beach, easy access to the Coastal path for walks. Pretty house, nice decorations, very spacey and comfortable throughout, especially comfortable beds. Spotlessly cleaned!

We have been coming to Beer every November for a 3 night break and wanted to book again for next year but were shocked to see the price had gone up by 47% so we will have to look elsewhere for 2024 ☹️
The property is gorgeous and in a perfect location, it was just what we wanted and with room to spare

Presence of the (unavailable) hot tub took up a lot of the outside space we were hoping the kids could play in.

The front was a little tricky with the code system, just a stiff door, would be helpful to have in the notes 'turn gold handle clockwise'. Bathrooms smelt really strongly of bleach which lingered even with windows open. Perhaps too much was used.
Location couldn't be easier or better. The parking was really easy too, if a bit busy during the day but this was to be expected by the sea. The whole house is really roomy and comfortable. Fitted out really well.

Really lovely house. Comfortable and spacious, stylish and with high quality furnishings. Photos do not do it justice. Location was ideal. And owner arranged for us to pay for an extra parking permit which was very helpful.

Location was ideal. Nice and quiet. Great shower, comfy beds, large lounge, large kitchen/diner, beautiful bedrooms, host easy to communicate with, lovely local shops near by, fully functioning kitchen with modern appliances. Felt secure and safe.
