How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Husband and I thought we would treat ourselves to a drink or 2 in the observatory. Concierge was lovely, waitress on first entering was lovely and seated us right away. However 20 minutes later and no one had came near us for our order. And its not that they were bust as they were standing chatting several times while we tried to gey their attention. We left in the end as we had reservations for dinner and thought if that's how long it takes for a drink order I cannot imagine how long we would wait on our drinks. There was a dirty sock also under the bed we found
The bed was comfy, on the booking I stated it was hubby's birthday and they left a note stating happy birthday with some cupcakes.

The smell in the hall outside our rooms, it very unpleasant and seemed like a blocked drain.
All the Staff were so professional and welcoming. One of the best hotel sleeps I have had. Rooms and decor are of a high standard.

Prices need to be worked on. Far too expensive for food & drink. Also room service had a £10 delivery charge which is rediculous. Could order food my local takeaway get it delivered 15 miles away for a lot less on delivery charge!
The dinner was excellent and the location. The staff were really pleasant!

Perfect location in heart of Belfast. Gorgeous decor and very spacious bedrooms. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We didn’t want to leave. Would recommend to everyone.

Service at breakfast was a bit slow. We had to ask for coffee & when it came it was so weak it was undrinkable.

It is a nice hotel but they didn't warn us that the electricity might not work the morning after and that we would have to hit the reset button in the morning. So we bumbled around since we were checking out anyway. Why not warn people this might happen in the first place so we would know what to do! The price of the hotel was more than we expected but it is Ireland!
It is a nice hotel and easy to spot from the outside. If we were wondering which direction to the hotel, the hotel is so tall, you can see it.

Quite expensive, but has a great location & is a premium hotel, so not surprising. Great location, parking available at about €30 a day, but affordable & street parking is possible. Big shout out to John Dodd, Head Concierge - really lovely guy, very informative & a credit to the hotel. Oh, and a great rooftop bar!

No electrical power for an hour at 1.30 at night. Bit tricky walking around in the dark. Finally got sorted.

The lifts can be a bit slow at peak times. We weren’t bothered but some of the other guests did comment.
Very happy we booked at the Grand Hotel. A perfect location to explore the city. The bed and pillows are lovely and comfortable.

I paid for two rooms, but my son couldn’t make it due to work commitments. I enquired if i could have a credit to use it at a later date. 2 members of staff said they would speak to reservations and get back to me, still waiting.
Hotel was immaculate, and incredibly comfortable. Staff were good and polite.

Great value for money, very central location, lovely rooms and friendly staff. Able to drop off bags before check in and also leave them after check out while we explored the city. The observatory on the top floor is worth a drink in for the views

A small thing but I found the lifts to be really complicated and annoying, you had to swipe your card and for whatever reason it didn't always work. We wanted to go to the cocktail bar but had to go down to the ground floor to get up as it is a special lift, it was just cumbersome. Other than that we had a great stay.
