Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWi fi not great.
Excellent location and all in superb condition. Our only niggle was the bed size, which was a standard double, so felt a bit tight. Not sure if this is the case in all of the double rooms, but if you are a six footer+ I would recommend that you enquire. Overall a really great place to stay.

United Kingdomat the time of booking i had asked for a quiet room and firm bed. mattress was very tired on the edges where folk sit to get into bed. it was also too soft where people would have most likely slept. i ended up spinning the mattress 180 degrees which made a mild improvement but not enough for a sound night's sleep. the room was over the laundry, hearing the machines going beyond midnight wasn't appreciated either. these 2 aspects aside: all good. staff attentive.
really good breakfast. location beautiful.

Irelandwe were a little late (40 minutes) checking out and they charged us a late check out fee which I had to argue to get removed. We are staying with 2 your children ( 1 and 4 years) and asked for a cot which didn’t arrive till we rang down to remind them. My husband had made note on my booking that it was my Birthday in the hope the hotel might do something to mark the occasion and it was never even mentioned. I just felt it some areas the attention to detail was was poor.
The property was beautiful and they had a self guided tour of the Hall and it’s beautifully manicured gardens. The hall is steeped in history and in our room there was book with the history of the hotel. Each room in the main house was named after a famous poet.

United KingdomWhat a disappointment, we arrived via a long pot holed track. Met by a receptionist who carried our case he then explained about the audio tour of the public rooms which was interesting . We were given a key to a classic room which was very small - no where to sit except on bed. We asked for a chair and receptionist said there should be one and he would get us one. Also coat hangers as none in wardrobe. We went for a walk through the gardens and returned to our room later. No sign of chair or hangers so asked again and they were brought to the room. Our dining experience was very poor. Food portions were minute, service took two hours for a three course meal this happened every evening in both restaurants. The menu was the same each evening. We were told the menus were changed each season but some times chef would try something new. After four nights boring. The first night the noise due to wedding and prom celebrations kept us awake until the early hours of the morning. We asked for a change of room but no rooms available. Next day we asked again because an other wedding was scheduled. We were given a room for disabled - no coat hangers here either so took the ones from the room we were leaving. We thought everything was now resolved. Alas no! Received an email from Booking.com cancelling our D B&B and reinstating B&B for the following three nights. On enquiry at reception to ask if dinner reservations had been cancelled they explained as we had vacated a room and moved to another not booked through Booking.com a new booking had to be made by the hotel for the next three nights. We were also informed that the drinks bill of £34 and £6 would be transferred to our present room. We had no drinks. This was explained as "human error". Appalled at b'fast after asking for a clean cup a replacement was brought with lipstick stain. Plates cold, breakfast cold limited choice, no cheese, ham or fish.
Nice gardens and walks. Audio tour of building. Decor and furnishings of public rooms good.

United KingdomThe service was the most disappointing. We waited on average 30 minutes to be served breakfast and 55 mins+ for our main meals at night. We waited about 25 minutes to be served drinks from the bar during the early evening and there were no snacks available such as peanuts or crisps. Our room tariff included access to a small storeroom for milk and soft drinks, plus snacks it said. There was never any milk, the soft drinks were warm and snacks amounted to some boiled sweets. Apparently, we were told later, that the refrigerator was broken. When we asked for milk to be delivered to our room, firstly it was forgotten then on the second occasion it took another 20 minutes. All in all the service was not consistent with what you would expect from such a prestigious place. Hence our disappointment.
The place and the grounds were really lovely. The room was okay, but when it's described as a cosy suite, it was not. It was a large room with two small soft chairs, an old very small wardrobe and no refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable and the room itself was quite clean, although we did find some confetti on the floor. The bathroom was adequate. The hotel décor was lovely filled with many period furniture items in a multitude of rooms. The restaurant we we given to use for breakfast and dinner was basic and a bit uncomfortable and extremely noisy due to it's acoustics. Breakfast freshly cooked food was okay, but the so called hot food at the buffet was cold and by 9:30am had quite obviously been hanging around for much too long. Dinner was nicely cooked, but the menu was very limited in choice.

United KingdomRoom we booked supposed to have garden view, but the window was made of frosted glass so we couldn't see anything when it was closed. After opening the window it got only worst. We had a view on bins and pile of rubbishes... The noise coming from some kind of chimney that was located next to our window was irritating. I didn't expect we would experiance such a disomfort in this hotel... charging someone 200 pounds for a small room with such a bad view is not right. Another disappointing aspect: breakfast. Omlet too underdone, the egg white was so runny almost raw. I asked for a new one and I received excatly the same omlet that I started to eat but reheated and smaller due to the fact that majority of eggs stayed on my prevois plate in a liquid form as it fall from the omlet after cutting into it. Not major issue but unfortunately it also impacted the whole experiance.
Garden and the map that was given to us in order to discover different areas around the hotel was an amazing idea. We had fun while walking and exploring. The buliding itself looks extraordinary. We were welcomed by lovely lady.
