Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location of the cottage is lovely, perfect for walks. It is a fairly big property, so plenty of room to spread out. The owner Jane, is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome. The local pub is within walking distance, so good if you want to have a drink and leave the car at the cottage you can, just remember to take a torch for the walk back.

We loved our stay in the old converted barn. Such a beautiful location being on its own but close enough to nearby pubs and villages. There are some really good local rocks to have bolder and walk round 5 mins from where we stayed. The barn is quite big, well spaced out, really comfy sofas and beds. Would highly recommend to others and would definitely stay here again if we wanted to visit the Peak District. This place is very close to the Rouches which is great for rock climbing. Some lovely pubs around with a good selection of real ales.

United KingdomNothing! The only thing was the fridge/freezer was quite small.
We loved staying in this cozy cottage. It was warm, comfortable and the location stunning. Beautiful walks directly from the accommodation - We did the Roaches from the cottage, took about 4 hours and it was so beautiful. The host was very friendly and we saw a barn owl every evening as well as other wildlife. Our dogs loved it! A bottle of prosecco on arrival was a lovely touch.

United KingdomBathroom was dimly lit near the mirror, and had no 2-prong electric shaver/ toothbrush socket. Care needed to be taken when taking the large mugs out of the microwave as the handles got hot as well as the mug itself.
The host Jane was very friendly, left a bottle of prosecco on arrival, gave tips on local facilities, leant us an ironing board (very useful as we were going to a wedding) and allowed us to leave late as there was no guest or cleaner arriving until the following day. The cottage was spacious with a lovely walk-in shower, plenty of cooking utensils, fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave and dishwasher, central heating. Lovely views from the cottage and easy walk to Ramshaw rocks and not much further to the even more impressive rocks and views at the Roaches.

United KingdomPhone signal was poor in the surrounding area However WIFI was provide in the cottage, which was excellent.
The cottage had a remote location with access to footpaths for walks. Very friendly owner with nothing too much trouble. Very dog friendly although cattle were grazing nearby. We responsibly kept our Springer on lead when out, as she has the ability to jump quiet high fences and walls. Lovely enclosed garden/patio area which we sat out in the sun whilst using the provided BBQ. We spent the day at the local Tittesworth Reservoir enjoying a walk around and then hiring a canoe and stand up Paddle Board

United KingdomSome of the furnishings have seen better days and could do with replacing, but not enough to detract from the overall
Great value for money. It felt really cosy, good use of the space with a lovely open plan Lounge/Dining/Kitchen area which was very sociable. We were welcomed by a Bottle of bubbly and fresh flowers on the table. Excellently located for rock climbing and walking. 2 pubs within walking distance: The Winking Man, a good straight forward pub with good food; The Olde Rock Inn, very nice gastro-pub. Overall a lovely place to stay we will be coming back again soon.

SpainOnly thing I think could be changed is maybe getting a smart tv, but that’s just because we have an autistic child that likes to watch certain shows at certain times. She became stressed when she could only watch them on a small device.
Loved the location, surrounded by beautiful views. Close to alot of trails and little villages.

United KingdomThe inclusion of a washing machine would have been good, but not the end of the world.
The location was superb and Jane the owner was lovely, making us feel very welcome. The property was quite quirky, but comfortable, with a good shower and great heating system that kept the cottage nice and toasty.
