Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWould have appreciated a few more utensils in the kitchen - scissors and no lids for the saucepans - but we managed.
Located at the end of the row, providing privacy with the trees, the well appointed lodge was a great place to relax and unwind.

United KingdomThe fire and gas cooker are temperamental The doors was swept but needs cleaned properly A broom or dustpan/brush would have helped when we left the property A gate replaced next to the hot tub to secure pets A patio chair was unusable due to being rusty snapped and dangerous
The lodge catered for all our needs and was warm and comfortable. It is looking a bit tired in places for a luxury lodge and could use some TLC

United KingdomLodge would be fine for a couple or 2 adults and 2 small children but was cramped for 4 adults. A few issues : Toilet in ensuite did not flush properly. TV reception poor. Lodge has WiFi but the Internet kept dropping out. These things were not a major issue but what was a big problem were the beds. The double bed in the main bedroom was fine but the two single beds in the second bedroom were awful. Cheap, thin mattresses where you could feel every spring. My daughter and her partner hardly slept for the 3 nights we were there. Parking is also an issue if you have more than one car as we did.
Location excellent for exploring the beautiful Northumbria coastline. Alnwick, Warkworth, Amble etc. all within easy reach. Hot tub great. Lodge clean and reasonably well equipped. Owners attentive, checking if everything OK twice during our stay.

United KingdomThe level of cleanliness outside was very poor. The side deck needed a thorough deep clean. There was a distinct odour of urine by the deck gate (I’m assuming from previous dogs holidaying with their owners). As a result we did not feel we could use the outside seating area or hot tub. Only 2 of the 10 solar bulbs on the deck worked.. Inside, the sitting room furnishings were as depicted in the photographs, although somewhat worn and tired. It was however comfortable enough. The kitchen was basically equipped. One tea towel was provided. Although there is a dishwasher, no tablets were provided which would have been a nice touch. The bathrooms, although compact, were clean and there was plenty of hot water. The bedrooms were very restrictive in size, to be expected in this type of accommodation, but they could have been comfortable with some thought and financial investment. The double room bed linen was extremely worn and un-ironed. The pillows and mattress were very uncomfortable. There was a large dried stain on the quilt cover. The twin bedroom bore no resemblance to the photograph on the website. It basically constituted two single mattresses pushed together, leaving no space between the two or room to walk around. Both mattresses need replacing as you can feel every spring. It was so uncomfortable we made use of the sofa on the second night. Although we paid for a three night stay we were relieved and happy to leave after 2. I have communicated my views to the owner.
Had I known the location on the park in advance I would have selected another property. Very congested on a long straight road lined both sides with static caravans and lodges. No open views. Parking for 1 vehicle. The country park location itself is good for accessing everything Northumberland has to offer. The description of the property should be static caravan with decking. It is not a lodge.

United KingdomHad some issues with the boiler, toilet and hot tub all of which are in the guest book before we stayed. The boiler was losing pressure and a simple set of instructions in the caravan would have been helpful. 2 Tvs in the property have little or no signal and we were not able to tune into Bbc 1 or 2 at all. A previous owner is listed as a contact which was not helpful and when I spoke to the park where the van is sited they told me to contact the owner.
The location was great and with the below issues fixed would have been great. Having spoke to him he was pleasant and understanding of the issues.

United KingdomI informed Alex (property manager) that the hot tub kept foaming so it couldn’t be used. Alex called me around midday the following day (this was prompt and a pleasant surprise). I was advised to simply put the lid back in the hot tub and tube the jets in and allow them to work their magic. I informed Alex that I was out at the time and I’d do that when I returned that evening. I did as advised and sadly this didn’t solve the issue. At the same time, I was cook a birthday dinner for my partner. The gas would not light in the oven and then continued to turn off when I eventually did get it to light. This meant the food was ruined and needed chucking. I sent a text to Alex as soon as this happened informing him I had to get a take away. Alex arranged a time to call me and when I explained I was disappointed with these two elements of our stay and I asked Alex if he could give me a partial refund as a goodwill gesture. Simply taking into account that I’ve not been able to use the cooker or the hot tub (the property was only booked because it had a hot tub and had cooking facilitates). Alex said I was attempting to money grab and he said my intention all along when booking the stay was to get a free stay. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for a partial refund considering I couldn’t use the cooker and couldn’t use the hot tub which is why I booked the stay. I expressed my disappointment by text to Alex at how he spoke to me and he apologised. He refunded me £35 which was to cover the food I chucked away and the food I bought for my dinner. The overall cleanliness of the property wasn’t great. There were mirror marks where a dirty cloth had been used on all glass within the property. The TVs don’t have signal. Channel 4oD didn’t work on one of the TVs. The room with two signals has two beds directly next to each other (basically making a double) so no moving space.
The property was much larger than expected. It had a walk in wardrobe. Ensuite in master. Lovely location.

United KingdomOnsite signage isnt the best so make sure you pay attention to the site map. The main decking area was great for the dog as could gate off and make secure but the side towards the jacuzzi was open. Would have preferred a gate on this side also if possible as had to tether our dog while we were all in the jacuzzi. We were only here a couple of nights so no chance to explore properly, but there wasn't anywhere obvious to let the dog off lead. The site is leads on as is the walk to the golf club house and wood. Some small cleaning points to feedback (nothing major that overly inpacted stay) but on arrival dog immediately dove under the sofa and found a cow hoof which suggested thst hadnt been cleaned under, some over the counter meds left on the shelf above coffee cups (im tall so noticed), Cutlery needed recleaning due to food residue and large amount of white dog hair on bedding (appreciate its dog friendly which was the draw but would have preferred sheets to be especially clean on arrival). Cooker extractor hood probably needs the filters changing as appeared greasy and some higher corners/surfaces could have done with a further dust/cobweb removal) The decking boards towards the jacuzzi also slightly loose in places and some of the internal doors had dropped slightly which made some of fhe doors a little unwieldy and us likely to impact the flooring later down the line. .
Location of the lodge at the end of the cul de sac was great with a couple of pleasent wildlife encounters. Lovely and quiet and dog wasnt disturbed or disturbing anyone else. Lodge spacious and welcoming and the addition of the extra dining area on the porch really added something extra. Overall decor very pleasent. Broadband speed (37mps) was also a pleasent surprise and would open up the possibilities of remote working. Site overall is very clean but also very quiet. Kids play area is a decent size but no onsite shop etc (but the golf club house does have a small shop within it). An ice cream van came round the site at approx 6/6:30 the nights we were there so assume is a regular thing in the summer at least.

United KingdomThere was not a lot to not like about the property in terms of the location and space. I would say that it needs a good deep clean. There was a lot of dog hair in the main living area/kitchen/on the decking area so would benefit from pulling out furniture and sweeping. Some of the curtains in the main bedroom had a white suspicious stain on them and the shower had mould around the tray and on the shower head. The main bathroom has a jacuzzi bath but when we turned it on, it was dirty so black bits filled the bath so that was disappointing for our daughter. We did not let this affect our stay and still had a lovely time, just think it is worth the owner resolving for future bookings.
The property was spacious and in a good location as it was nearby some lovely beaches.

No hairdryer as stated and the hot tub chemicals need checking for the correct quantity, swimsuit bleaching and jewellery tarnished.
The lodge was nice and modern, has all the facilities that you need for a good stay if only they were maintained
