Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomChest table in living room is falling apart! Would be nice to have some occasional tables by the sofas for coffee etc A tea towel/cleaning cloth or sponge would have been useful. Parking is not the easiest!
Comfortable beds and sofas. Clean and spacious. We only used it to sleep, eat breakfast and get ready and it was great for that.

United KingdomThe parking was a bit restricted and we were asked to move on numerous occasions. The living room did smell of dog which was a little off putting so we did end up buying some air freshener.
It was in a lovely location and is a very cosy little cottage. We did have a lovely time

United KingdomThe parking is terrible. It’s says there’s a parking space but there’s notice’s opposite saying you can’t park there. We had numerous people asking us to move our car so that they could park. Also no turning point so had to reverse up a very small lane. This should be mentioned. The other issue is there’s no instructions on how to use the bedroom heaters. There’s a flap on the top you have to lift but unless you know you’d miss it and assume they don’t work.
The cottage was very comfortable

United KingdomParking facilities were poor and the web advert was misleading as signage has changed since we booked. A better welcome pack would have been appreciated.
Nice fixtures and fittings. Comfy beds. Location was good for walking into Seahouses. Parking permit was a must due to restrictions at the cottage. Responsive local reps acted quickly when contacted.

United KingdomStayed Mon - Fri and had no hot water until Thurs morning. Kitchen tap dripping for the duration of the holiday (we reported it on first day). Bathroom extractor fan not working, toilet seat loose and 1 bulb out. No bulb in fitting outside bathroom door. Very narrow landing at the top of the stairs, no mention of a safety gate but we found 1 in the wardrobe. Not enough towels on arrival. Parking is a big issue as the road is very narrow with no allocated parking space. There is a car park nearby but the parking permit expired in October 2022!
Good location and spacious

United KingdomWe had a problem getting hot water, there needs to be clearer explanation around how to switch it on. The shower head slides down all the time, so frustrating when trying to wash your hair. The cottage is cold, even though it was warm outside. The electric radiators in the bedrooms weren’t working unfortunately. A minor issue but it was a pain, there wasn’t a tea towel in the kitchen. The welcome pack was poor and there was only one sachet of milk. Either a good one should be provided or none at all. The cottage would also benefit from new carpets in the bedrooms.
The cottage is in a great location, a short walk to the harbour, shops and restaurants. Set in a quiet back street with room for parking one car. The house is beautifully decorated with comfy beds, lovely bed linens and big fluffy towels. Books, games and DVDs are also provided.

United KingdomMy only gripe was the shower, not great water pressure with the shower head was loose on the shower frame meaning it kept sliding down to waist height, so couldn't really stand under it without holding it up.
Fantastic location in the heart of Seahouses. Two public houses at the end of the street and the main street and harbor less than 5 minutes walk. The property was great, nice and cosy with plenty of utensils and appliances. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were really comfy.

United KingdomIn need of a little TLC in places but understandable as holiday cottages must get some excessive wear and tear.
Lovely cottage in a great location very close to all the local amenities and the harbour. The cottage is spacious, we were a family of 5, is comfortable and very well equipped, with plenty of crockery and cutlery. It has been sensitively refurbished and well decorated. The beds are very comfortable. Although parking space is at a premium in the area we were able to park 2 cars outside the cottage, you just have to be sensitive to others needs particularly the residents. The parking permit for the local car parks is a very nice touch, thank you. We had a lovely relaxing family holiday.

United KingdomJust a couple of issues. 1. Didn't like the way they produced an £100 deposit against breakages after we had paid in full for the stay. should be more open from the start. 2. Couldn't get the hot water for the taps but this could have been my fault but I couldn't find any instructions. We managed fine without it by using the electric shower.
No breakfast but not an issue. The cottage was very nice and comfortable, all the amenities were of a very good standard. It's location was very close to everything in the village.
