Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandThe place is alright, not as bad as everyone says. It’s clean and comfortable. For that price it’s a steal.

United KingdomThe toilets need decorating. Better furniture in the kitchen, a couple of hobs and kitchen equipment could make this so much nicer. The lounge is quite small, but nice and bright with big windows. Some pictures, maps, local information and tourist leaflets would make a difference. Could be better very easily! Similar price to other hostels with much smarter communal areas and better kitchens. Please put a lock on the front door (keys or code) and lock at least at night. This was the only hostel available at short notice and it's clear why it is not first choice. It has potential though. The issues were obvious from previous reviews, hopefully the owners will be able to improve it.
On arrival the check in was easy, a friendly member of staff from the adjoining bar (part of the same business) confirmed our booking and showed us the layout and our rooms. The dorm room was clean, towels, sheets and bedding were fine and each bed had a USB socket for charging and a lamp. Good size lockers (you need a padlock). The location is convenient for visiting Skye and the West Highlands. There are decent shops and take aways/ bars or hotels serving food. Bus and train stops, petrol station and parking all nearby. Not Scotland's prettiest town, but good views across to Skye from the nearby waterfront.

United KingdomI stayed during off-peak season so it was a bit cold. I would understand that the large kitchen would take alot to heat and there is not much point if the hostel is not full. There could be some more facilities in the kitchen, at the moment there is 2 x microwave. Some more tea towels for drying dishes would be good.
The hostel is well priced and in a central location. The beds were clean and the facilities do the job. The bunk rooms are fine and have secure lockers and each have USB charging point and a bunk light which is really good. The common areas are spacious.

United KingdomClearly refurbished on a very small budget. Terrible finishing of the project, with some of it only half completed. The shared kitchen has no cooking facilities other than 2 very small microwaves. Goodness knows how this will work if the place is ever fully occupied. The shared kitchen looks like it used to be a commercial kitchen, that’s been ripped out (and left in a ripped out state). Exposed wires in old sockets around the kitchen. Filthy floors that haven’t been vacuumed for a very long time. Dirty coffee cups and take away leaflets still under my bed when I arrived. New showers installed in the kitchen area (weird), but again done on the cheap. Not sure how long they will last with constant use over time. No suitable handbasins to have a wash with. Only tiny cloak room style hand washing basins in the toilets downstairs. Compared to the hostel I stayed in the night before (at a similar price), this is way off the same standard. Shame really, as it has the potential to be very good if it was invested in properly.
Comfortable bed, warm rooms (Mid November stay). Great location close to the harbour and train station. Co-op supermarket 3 minute walk away. The female at check in was friendly and helpful.

SwitzerlandIt's only a place to stay a night if you arrive late and nothing else is availbale. The kitchen is nearly non-existing. The bathroom is in pretty bad shape. The general cleaniness is really questionable. If possible, try to avoid it.

GermanyThere was a weird smell in the whole building, neither the wifi nor the tv in the common space was working, and there was no one to contact. No key cards/keys, hence there was no option to lock the doors and anyone would be able to walk into the building/rooms. Overall, I would not recommend to stay there for longer than one night

ItalyThe name of the hostel was a different one, so it was impossible to find it. No key was provided, and the door was open all night long. The kitchen should be called a dining room, since there is nothing that can be used to cook, except for a microwave. The bathrooms were all dirty, smelly, and without soap. The same holds for the shower as well.
