How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Lack of sockets. No shower cap
The location was very convenient and the self check in seemless. The room was spaceous and clean. Complimentary toiletries included.

the property was perfect for a family of 6. parking right next to it, ample room for us all within the property. It was spotless and the little touches of coffee, tea, milk juice, cereal and cereal bars were perfect! Toiletries were lovely and beds were comfortable. we will certainly be returning.

last minute booking, room was ready with our name on within 30 mins cereals & milk were provided which was perfect as we didn’t have any groceries with us.

Everything was great . The only thing they need is a small kitchen towel to wipe the counters so we don’t need to use the big kitchen towel. I will definitely recommend hillcroft accommodation

The only thing that we didn’t like about the property was the front bedroom had a ‘security light’ right outside the bedroom glass doors/windows. The curtains weren’t blackout or dark enough curtains to block the light out so it shone through and made it look like it was daylight outside. I did message the ‘office’ owners but there was nothing they could do to turn them off and they didn’t seem that bothered about it which was very disappointing. Unfortunately no sleep was had in that room that night when we had to be up for an early flight the next day which wasn’t a great start to our holiday.
The property was clean, spacious, cosy and had everything we needed for a 1 night stay before we flew from Bristol airport the next morning which was so close just 2 minutes up the road.

Approach road is rough, building works in progress.
Very nice room, easy check-in etc. Approach is a little off putting due to building works. But was ideal for our overnight stay before flying out of Bristol. It is 5 mins from the airport. Nice pub down the road that has Indian menu as well as pub classics. Very friendly staff. Both recommended for airport stop overs etc.

The tv in the bedroom area didn’t work very well.
The beds we very comfy. Lovely bathroom and so nice to see the animals. Also the perfect location to Bristol airport

Not an issue but the drive was very pot holey. No clothes or spray to wipe the sink and kitchen surface. TV buttons are not great, not very sensitive.
Great location. Loved the fact it was self check in and out. Comfortable and good facilities.

Was a little cold in our bedroom but nothing major.
Lovely plaice, homely with all the facilities you needed. Loved how there was juice, milk, cereal and cereal bars as well. A real home from home.

Leaving at 3am in the morning as the bedroom is so comfy.
It's so convenient to Bristol airport. Its clean, and of an excellent standard. Sat out on the patio with the planes landing or watching the horses or goat, yes goat is great. It's super.

Having to leave because it was so comfortable
The hill croft accommodation was amazing it was clean,big and loads of space for the e of us before our flight the morning after. Could not fault it
