How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Breakfast wasn't the best Most of the buffet food at breakfast was cold. The staff listened to our concerns and deducted the cost but that left us having to travel out to eat

My room was next to the laundry so I could not have the window open as an extractor or something that was making a noise at all times

Price as I was charged an extra £50 on top of price for my dogs which made it very expensive, should have been a holding fee incase of problems not a charge

Staff should have told us no internet in room as needed it whilst there. Also asked for a third cup and glass? Was told housekeeping had gone home really!!! Anyone could do that ??

The food served at the restaurant for dinner was awful. Probably the worst meal I’ve ever had. I had some tacos, chicken wings and the salad and it was shockingly inedible so I left most of it. Would never eat there again

Toilet seat was loose, reported it but not fixed. Scotch egg starter had been re-heated multiple times and was inedible.

The atmosphere, surroundings and everything about the hotel was absolutely amazing. We only had breakfast here but that was great value for money. It was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived and I will definitely look forward to staying again in the future.

Access road to the property was on a busy road and slightly tricky to negotiate if you haven't visited before or if the traffic is busy.
Very friendly and helpful staff at reception. Lovely cookie provided on arrival, nice touch!. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, stylish and well stocked with toiletries. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Gym on site had treadmills, bikes and other equipment. Comfortable bar area with reasonably priced drinks.

The food was awful and not worth the £30 at all… I also think it’s a bit cheap that a non city centre hotel charges for parking.
Lovely family friendly place. Staff were generally lovely despite being busy.

The cost of a dog was expensive at £50 per night.
We were visiting family in Southampton and decided to stay at the Hilton. We were 2 adults, one teenager and a dog. The room was adequate, beds comfortable and pillows were amazing. The only issues we had were the aircon didn’t work and the room was on the chilly side. The extractor in the en-suite was very loud and could not be turned off. The room was quiet, located at the back of the hotel with kettle and the shower was lovely and powerful. The hotel had an area for the dog at the rear and the hotel staff were lovely and helpful. The breakfast was lovely but the hotel needed more staff as it was very busy. The staff did an amazing job but there were lack of plates, topping up food and fixing the tea / coffee machine whilst providing a breakfast service impacted the guest experience.

Confusing to find the entrance from the motorway as you have to double back on yourself. Food is expensive. Breakfast is expensive and not a lot there when we went to eat at 9am.
Hotel is very good. Lovely room. Very clean. Bed very comfy. Great location. Staff friendly and very helpful. Food is very good but expensive.

The bed was incredibly firm, so much so sleep was pretty much impossible. The breakfast was also lack luster will most of the hot items being cold at best. (We went at 7:30).
Staff were amazing, room was spotless and modern. The carparking was £5 a night, very reasonable for the area. It's clearly a very well kept building, everything was immaculate and bar was well stocked. Location is great and very quiet.

Light in the room was flickering on/off with no way to turn it off, we were right next to the entrance meaning that people could see in if they were stood outside. Ordered room service via the app that didn’t come and when I enquired I was told they never received the order - still had to pay for it!

Second morning for breakfast the food ran out very quickly and we were waiting a while for it to come out
