Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI had booked 4 rooms for family. I was first to check in and confirmed there were 4 rooms booked yet as each family group booked in they were initially told there was no room booked for them. We chose as a group to eat in the hotel on our first night. We sat on 2 tables of 4 in the bar area and ordered our food accordingly. One table who ordered mains only were served no problem the other table had to chase main courses after a long wait. 2 mains turned up and after another long wait I had to chase my wife and my main course. In fairness to the 2 young female staff who were serving they were doing the best they could. They apologised and said the order hadn’t been sent to the kitchen they would chase it up. They then offered a refund on the 2 missing meals. After another wait they came and said if we didn’t want the meals they would cancel them. We said we were very hungry by this point and needed to eat. Eventually way after everyone else had finished eating our meal arrived. Such a shame as everybody agreed the food was really nice. There was a complete lack of management presence keeping an overview of things. The following night we decided to eat at the local pub which was great. On returning to the hotel, not late a little after 9, on the second night there was a member of staff at the desk by the front door who greeted us and watched 4 of us make our way to the bar area. The bar was empty and no bar staff on duty. We hung around for about 10 minutes eventually a lady who looked as though she was on her way home after her shift asked if we were ok. I said I was wondering if there was anyone to serve on the bar and she said yes I’ll get the chap on reception. The very same guy who had greeted us and watched us walk into the bar. Breakfast on our last morning was a bit of a shambles. The previous morning there had been a hot buffet which worked great. The last morning orders were taken for hot food.
Great location, nice internal decor, rooms fine.

United KingdomMy only disappointment was that in such a beautiful location our room had no view at all. And as it was a suprise booking for my husband's 60 th birthday my heart sank when I entered the room and it overlooked a back enclosed area.
Beautiful location

United KingdomThe radiator had no controls on it, so the room was rather hot. We had the window wide open, and so did lots of other guests. Rather wasteful. There were a few areas of damaged or dirty wallpaper in the bedroom.
The room was fine, with a comfortable bed. We ate a nice evening meal in the restaurant.

United KingdomSuite was tired 4 poster bed was broken and missing the top half of the bed. Wallpaper peeling, a leek sometime in the past near the window. Cracked sink and tiles in the bathroom and shower had mould spores along the outer edge. Get these few problems sorted and the suite would be superb.
The building was very grand and the location was perfect.

FranceNeeds a good refreshing - poorly maintained - looks run down in places. Nowhere to work in room 6. Noisy toilet, using too much water. Breakfast was very poor first two days then radically improved the next two days - when female server returned. Male member of staff did not rectify lack of coffee, croissants, fruit... Could still be much improved.
Impressive historic building in a great spot for walking and visiting Macclesfield, Manchester and Peak District.

United KingdomRoom was adequate but bed very uncomfortable, needs a new mattress or at least a thick mattress topper. Evening meal disappointing, bland soup, potatoes with chicken were burnt. Staff underwhelming not very productive nor very friendly considering we were the only guests bar 2 or three others. Very underwhelming breakfast, buffet was bare, had to ask for everything nothing was offered nor suggested that for example fruit existed. Luke warm coffee in a thermos, no other coffees on offer. During our meeting lunch was poor. No fruit no little biscuits no nice touches. No one at the hotel seemed that bothered we were there.
It’s in a pretty location. Lovely looking entrance which promises a nice stay but it was not

United KingdomBeds were lumpy and uncomfortable. No lock on bathroom door and where it had been there was a hole. No hand soap. Shower was poor.
The room was big and we were able to bring our dog. Plenty of parking. The communal areas were nice. We did not make use of the dining room so cannot comment on this, but it looked nice. Staff we did meet were pleasant
