Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNoisy road intrusive during the day and making sleep difficult at night which was exacerbated by the noisy hot water tap system.
Location excellent. Parking available. Sea view. Outside space.

United KingdomIf you bring your pooch, you will need to whizz them round the block in the morning and evening, as there isn't a garden. The beach is really not far though, so it's easy.
We loved the location of this funky seaside home- it's really close to the beach, and close walking distance to all that Whitstable has to offer. It was really easy to check in, and with the secure keypad entrance, we didn't have to worry about losing the key! The house was immaculate, very well equipped and comfortable- everything you could need was provided. Showers were good. The dog loved it too! Parking was a blessing- we didn't move the car for 3 days. There is a lovely coffee shop and ice cream parlour next door- perfect to pick up breakfast pastries to enjoy on the house balcony if you don't want to cook. The owner was very helpful and friendly via text. We really enjoyed our stay, and if we come back to Whitstable, we would definitely stay here again.

United KingdomIt is not great for a longer stay. The convenient location is also a weakness. It is on a road through town which is not very busy but there is some occasional heavy traffic and the poor road surface and canyon effect of the street make it quite loud in the property. Also at the weekend you get noisy groups passing the property front and back. The minimalist decor is nice but the absence of rugs/curtains also added to the noise transfer issue. It is also not a very private property- you are very visible to neighbours and people walking along the seafront, particularly on the balcony or at night when the curtains are transparent. The kitchen could do with a few more items, such as extra glasses/cups. Also odd to see no microwave.
This is a nice modern property in the heart of Whitstable. It is generally well-equipped and has parking. The bathrooms and kitchen are modern and work well. The beds are comfortable. A good spot for one or two nights where you want to take advantage of the bars and restaurants.

United KingdomThis apartment could have been great it looked so great from the advertised pictures however all I could say it was so grubby. We found it so awful we had to clean the whole kitchen and while doing so found glass on the floor (we had our dog with us) under the cabinets, the worktops and surfaces were greasy and stained to the point I went out and purchased cleaning products as they only provided antibacterial spray which did nothing and spent half of the first day cleaning. There was dust everywhere, we couldn't relax. The sheets and bedding were not fresh pressed cotton they looked like they had never been changed. To the point we left a day earlier I just wanted to go home. There were grubby marks up the wall on the staircase and the outside space hadn't been cleaned either. The cleanliness was so poor it's not just about cleaning the oven. The shelves above the kitchen and extractor were thick with sticky greasy dust. Even a picture at the top of the stairs had a layer on it. It made my skin crawl I was so unhappy after the first day as we've stayed in many places here before and wished we had booked those, but we wanted to try something closer to the beach. We have photos of all the above. I will stress I do not give bad reviews lightly but the price we paid and standard we received were miles apart. I have a disabled son and when we go away, the apartment or home needs to be well equipped and homely as we often have to stay in in the evening and prepare food and this wasn't what I expected. For some reason the pictures won't upload so if you need them direct to the owner please contact me.
The location looked great on the details however the traffic from the Rd behind kept us up half the night, 2 motorbikes stopped right outside our house and started revving their engines, lorries and traffic noise constantly taking into account this wasn't in peak season this would be horrendous. Hardly the relaxing break we needed. Then, It was lovely having the beach in front however with a coffee shop below us also, there was additional noise from there, children shouting and screaming. I think the only plus was the walk to all the shops beach and restaurants were just a stone's throw away.

United Arab EmiratesEverything was excellent.
This is a great place, ideally situated in a wonderful seaside town. Whitstable is always delightful and the new property has been thoughtfully built and yet retains a seaside feel without being twee.
