Breakfast and dinner were of the highest quality , the staff couldn't have been more helpful . The room had everything you needed and the bed was very comfortable.

We only got to stay one night!

This was a last minute booking so we were just hoping for something adequate for an overnight rest but we were in for a treat. We were given the mallow suite complete with four poster, large bathroom and dressing area. It was clean and comfy and oozed Country Inn history and charm. Food including including dinner and breakfast was lovely and there was a great choice of ale and cider. Staff were welcoming and professional. We will recommend The Hoops to everyone and will hopefully find an excuse to stay again.

Warm, inviting and very welcoming. Very quirky oldie, worldie atmosphere. We had an overnight stay/stop off between our travelling destinations. Evening meal - varied choices and breakfast was excellent. Room was well supplied with tea/coffee and goodies. Beds very comfortable. Bathroom/shower room small and compact but very good use of the limited space. Secure car parking facilities and lots of outdoor eating/drinking garden facilities. Value for money and would stay again.

The only criticism we had was that the menu didn't warn us that the sticky toffee pudding had cinnamon on it. This is purely personal, as neither of us like cinnamon, but it has such a strong flavour and isn't normally found in STP, that it would have been good to warn up front as some people will love the addition.

Great location, lovely cosy room and great dedicated staff who really seem to care about our stay. Normally we don't eat where we stay and it's not normally great, but that all changed when we had dinner there. The food was amazing, not just for a hotel, but amazing in the area.

The plug in the suites bath doesn’t close fully.

The staff at this hotel are exceptional. Nothing is too much. They make you feel at home and they were amazing with my pug. We come every year and even though the owners are currently not front of house like they have been in previous years, it was still the same standard of service. We look forward to seeing them back next year.

We wanted a typical country Devon pub where we could relax in the bar after dinner and have a chat with our fellow travellers. Unfortunately at about 5.30 the staff put reserved signs on all the tables , including ours where we had just eaten, and we were forced to move out of the way. I understand the need to maximise food sales but if they warn in advance that they do not have bar in the evenings then people can make an informed choice before they commit to booking.

I can't fault the staff . They were very chatting and happy to help in any way they could. They were under staffed and one of the staff members seemed to be Jack of all trades.

The only downside was the very noisy plumbing Sounded like constant drawing water and also being on the ground floor lots of noise from above rooms

The accommodation was spacious and clean and being on the ground floor ideal as my husband has mobility issues. The breakfast was exceptional a fantastic choice and delicious We had evening meals on 2 of the 3 nights which were also delicious.
