No complaints, everything was fine.

We, a couple from Germany, felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay at Hotspur House very much. Liz, our host, invited us to delicious homemade scones. Our room was comfortable and decorated tastefully. Breakfast was extraordinary. Liz helped us with finding nice places to dine and even arranged a booking for us. We can definitely recommend Hotspur House :-)

You really can’t go wrong with Hotspur House. The house is beautiful with spotlessly clean rooms. You also have use of a drawing room and outside terrace/garden. Liz is a wonderful host; friendly, helpful and accommodating. We were offered coffee, tea, homemade scones on arrival and subsequent afternoons. Superb and plentiful breakfast that was a cut above the norm. The list goes on, what a fabulous place and we will be back!

Beautiful house with the best mattress and bedding we have ever slept on in any bed and breakfast accommodation. Luxury bathroom with a powerful shower and high quality products for use when showering or bathing. USB points on all sockets very welcome and the Wi-Fi has a strong signal. Tea and scones each afternoon in the sitting room was most welcome. The breakfast was a standout, being made with the highest quality local ingredients, perfectly cooked and such a large portion it kept us filled until the evening! Eggs the best we’ve tasted.

What did we like? Everything - and especially the friendly greeting, the immaculate accommodation and tea and scones in the beautiful sitting room on arrival and each time we got back from a trip. Nothing was too much trouble to our host, Liz, whose calm efficiency meant that every need was met without fuss.

What a beautiful place to stay in Allendale! We stayed for a wedding, so it was really ideal and a 2 min walk to the venue. Comfy beds, amazing breakfast and lovely service :) highly recommend x

The landlady was very welcoming, the room was very nice and bathroom was of high quality. The breakfast was very nice with a large selection of alternatives Our dog was welcomed and she loved being there as well as us. A perfect sort break in a perfect place.

Details matter and the details at Hotspur House are spot on. For example you have builtbin USB sockets in the rooms, high quality toiletries if you need them, home made biscuits and good quality tea and coffee, fresh milk daily. Add to the details a delightful house and a charming host who cooks individual breakfasts - what more could any one ask for?

The warm welcome was more than I had anticipated. The house is beautifully decorated. The breakfast was fabulous and the home made scones on arrival was a special touch. Beautiful gardens too! The room was furnished to a very high standard and had all the bells and whistles that you could ever need. Great local shops and 2 great pubs, we had a great evening meal. A thoroughly fantastic experience!

Liz was really welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. We have never been to the area before but Liz recommended places to visit. Accommodation is beautiful and breakfast kept us going all day!

Our stay at Hotspur House was delightful and very comfortable. Our host Liz, was friendly, welcoming, generous and very attentive and made for a wonderful stay ! This lovely Georgian home is full of character and the room facilities had that ‘home from home’ feel. Our breakfasts were superb and hearty. Thank you Liz for probably the best stay we’ve had away from home.

Liz welcomed us with tea and scones. The house is beautiful, and it had such a peaceful, calm feeling. Our room was very clean with tea & coffee making facilities...loved the biscuits and chocolates in the room. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection to choose from. Very comfy pillows and quilt.
