Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).

United StatesThe one things I did not really appreciate was that the hotel was very dark. My room was very dark and I could not find a way to turn up the lights when I needed to. I realize the the lighting was to set the mood but it was probably a bit too dark for me. Otherwise, I loved the place.
One of the funnest hotels to stay in. The rooms were comfortable and just very interesting in terms of how they were decorated. also, the location was great as it was a short walk to the the Royal Mile. Breakfast in my room was fantastic and the bar in the lobby served pretty good drinks. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely book again.

United StatesEverything is draped in velvet including the walls. There was very musty dusty air quality, that made both of us get congested. Additionally there are perfume diffusers everywhere, it’s STRONG, one of us is allergic to perfumes so this didn’t help that congested feeling. The room was very small, and you couldn’t get into or out of the bed very easily on one side. There’s no elevator, and the halls are also draped with dusty velvet so all in all it’s not a great place to breathe.
At check in we were greeted with a welcome cocktail. At night we had a cookies and milk button we could activate, which we loved. Everything is beautiful inside the property. The staff was lovely and attentive.

Breakfast was brought to your room (ordered via WhatsApp) in a hamper at your specified time. Prosecco on arrival was a nice touch.

United KingdomIf I said lighting, but obviously that is something the hotel has set its mood around, but that would be my only thought.
Certainly a different experience from your usual hotel stay, but not in a bad way just very quirky ( but dark!) So if you have vision issues to start with in dim lighting its probably not the best option. The hotel has definitely set its standards high regarding the decor, ambience and level of service. I really enjoyed my stay. Great location not far from the Grassmarket and plenty of restaurants and bars near by.
