The breakfast wasn't great and the quality of the food should have been better.

The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower was very spacious.

We didn't have breakfast but its a good location to visit the university and see a little of the centre. Easy to walk around. We weren't informed of the car park facility next door but apparently you get a discount if you park in there. Staff were helpful and the room super new and very clean.

No hot water to wash hands after flushing toilet until the cistern had filled up. Cups in the room weren't washed when the room was cleaned during the day. While i appreciate why they don't (4th floor) it would be nice if the windows opened just a little bit to get some air in the room rather than relying on the air con.

Ideal location for the arena and for eating out. Front of house staff were very friendly and the housekeeping staff we met around the hotel were polite and helpful

    Accessible room review

The beds were far too firm. I like a firm mattress but these were like sleeping on a table even though there are mattress toppers on them. I am a disabled person and therefore, booked an accessible room for me and my carer. The room was brilliant but the shower discriminates. Nor everyone using these rooms will be sat to use the shower. The shower heads in its highest position is far too low. My carer and I are both 5' 3 inch and we only just fit under this shower. Had I brought my husband who would usually be my carer he wouldn't have been able to fit under the shower as he is 6'. The grab bar for the toilet is located directly above the toilet roll dispenser. I have issues with my arms and wrists. The grab rail made it difficult to access toilet roll and so I removed the toilet roll and sat it on top of the grab rail. My carer who is able bodied said she found the toilet roll difficult to access. This all sounds like a lot but if the dispenser was moved above the grab rail (a 5 minute job) it would solve that. Likewise, it the shower pole that holds the shower head was placed higher you could fit an average person under it and you could lower the head for a person with needs. It is Important in accessible rooms to really consider the ergonomics. Otherwise this room was fantastic

Stylish, clean, super quiet and fabulous location close to town and very close to the arena.

The bed on this occasion wasn't very comfortable and where the duvet was showing from inside the cover it has seen better days and needs replacing. Also its a shame that prices go up so much depending on who is on at the arena. I paid a lot more on this occasion than when I was there in Feb for another event and I booked well in advance. Again being a solo traveller you end up paying twice as much than if you were sharing a room!! That said its not just Ibis but Premier, Radisson and others.

The hotel is so close to the arena which is what I was there for, only a few minutes walk which being a solo traveler is nice. Hotel staff always friendly and room is spacious and has everything you need for an overnight stay. Cleanliness of the room was very good.

Perfect hotel for access to concert, but pricey overall

For the price we paid for room £179 for one night mid week, I'd expect breakfast to be included. Clearly prices had been inflated because of a big concert at the First Direct Arena. Bathroom was small and very compact. No room safe available.

The hotel is very well placed for anyone going to First Direct Arena. Hotel was clean overall. Had sufficient toiletries available. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room was quite large with plenty of space. Liked that access to rooms and floors could only be accessed by someone with a key card. Was quiet of noise even though building work opposite and main road so did get a good nights sleep.

The web site appears to be out of date, says a continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, not true, I paid £161 for one night and then £20 for two breakfasts. A bit steep when I think about it but we were going to a Take That concert, on going on the web to book for that night on the night could have got it for £104 ( breakfast included) not sure how this pans out but we enjoyed our stay.

The room and location was excellent
