Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThese are observations and not complaints... when we arrived in the car park, we had to ask several people for the location as it was through a gate and a walk of about 200m to the lightship. We do understand that signage will be put up soon. Also, if you have mobility issues, getting to the cabin is up a steep staircase... but it's a lightship! Fortunately it gave us no problem but be aware.
Lovely location right on the River Medway with views across to the castle and the cathedral. Lots of wildlife to view. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. The lightship was quirky and there's a lovely upper deck to sit out on in good weather looking across the river. Breakfast was continental and plenty of it plus freshly made pancakes and fresh coffee. The breakfast room was very large and very nautical. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

United KingdomNothing I disliked.
Welcoming and friendly. Quirky accomodation on an old lightship - perfect for boat and waterway lovers. Fantastic views of the Medway from both rooms. Top deck is converted into two bedrooms, both with ensuite, ideal for we two couples. We used the bunk beds (in one room) for extra storage but they would be handy for a couple with kids. Solar panels provide electricity for all-day heating, even in winter, so the rooms were warm and comfortable. Plenty of 240v mains and USB sockets. WiFi worked fine. Though on a boat, there was plenty of hot and cold water. Bathroom spacious, and all plumbing worked fine. Half hour walk into town by the river. Breakfast provided in a pleasant room below the top deck; we were offered pancakes, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts, croissants and more.

United KingdomIt felt like a real treat to stay here. We felt very welcome, communication before and during was easy and clear. The rooms look out onto the river plus you can see the tops of the castle and cathedral in the centre of town from the boat, which was a 20/30 min walk away. You can hear the traffic on the bridge nearby but it wasn't overbearing, mainly we enjoyed the river and its wildlife. The owners were friendly and ensured our stay was comfortable. The breakfast was so good!

United KingdomI found the bed a little soft for my liking (but my wife was very happy with it!)
What a wonderful experience! Truly unique piece of British Maritime history, with fascinating story. Our room enjoyed serene views across the Medway down to Rochester. Breakfast was simple but just what was needed. Inner Dowsing Lightvessel is managed by a lovely couple who could not have been more friendly and helpful. Thank you!

United KingdomIn the depths of winter extra blankets would be good.
Great experience to spend a night on this historic vessel. Very friendly hosts who have worked hard to transform their floating family home into bespoke bed and breakfast accommodation. Spectacular views across the River Medway and within walking distance (30 minutes) of the historic town of Rochester. Secure parking within a Marina and close to a cosy pub serving excellent food at good prices.

United KingdomStairs up/down from room were quite steep. There is a handrail but still a bit nervous of little one doing it on his own. (Being an independent one which likes to do everything by himself) 😬
Was great to have breakfast included. Myself was very happy with continental but the other half was expecting a cooked breakfast. There was plenty of choice for me and loved the mixed fruit. We also had pancakes with fresh fruit which my little one really enjoyed especially as it was child themed. (Mickey mouse) I believe.
