How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The staff member who booked us in could have been a bit more sociable. The room was extremely hot.
Breakfast was fairly good, beans were cold and tomatoes very bitter but the rest was delicious. Location was perfect for us.

Room not cleaned on first day but sorted quickly. Glasses and cups were occasionally not very clean but again sorted quickly
Location for local attractions was good. Easy to find staff very good. Excellent breakfast reasonable drinks prices nice bar and restaurant atmosphere

The pub is on a main road which was busy and noisy from 6am. Had windows open (limited opening) as it was hot weather a fan in the room would have been appreciated
Would have liked fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast but only fruit juice tea or coffee and menu choice of cooked breakfast.

Road noise a little loud during the day but quiet at night. Paintwork in the room (skirting) needs a fresh lick but it was v clean.
Food was v good. Staff v helpful. Nice outdoor area to sit and relax. Close to Tonbridge with woods opposite to walk around.

It was an extremely warm evening (the mini September heatwave) and even with the room fan provided, the room was unbearably hot. Staff said that they were looking into getting more efficient fans for the rooms.
Good menu available for evening meal, cooked English breakfast was as expected. Room was clean and comfortable.

Venue was not prepared for the warm weather. Room was over heated and was unable to sleep. No spare fans available.
Amazing atmosphere, clean, friendly staff. The best pub food I've had in a long time. Ended up having breakfast lunch AND dinner at the venue.

Room on the top level was extremely hot but this would be less of an issue at almost any other time of year.
We had a good time in this lovely pub. Room was a bit on the small side and definitely be prepared for some traffic noise but the staff were really lovely and the food (at dinner and breakfast) very tasty indeed.

Staff did not deal with unpleasant patons promptly, appeared inexperienced Our room overlooked the road, noisy all night with the traffic volume, could not close the window as very hot, air conditioning should have been installed on renovation, a fan not sufficient. Bathroom sink very small and glass shelf a hazard. Meals and drinks expensive. Sorry not a 4 star.
The staff were friendly, tried their best. Nice setting.

The climb upstairs with our luggage was an ordeal as there are no lifts. The corridors are narrow and our room was very small. Car parking spaces are limited as the restaurant clients occupy many.
Breakfast was very good. We did not have dinner there but the restaurant looked very nice. Location for us is great but a little out of town. You need a car to get around and car parking is included.

Our window faced the road and it was quite noisy, especially with a church bell ringing every 1/2 hour all day and night. There was no Airconditioning so we needed to keep the window open for air. There was a fan in the wardrobe though so you could circulate the air if you wanted to use it. Also with no elevator, getting luggage up to the room was quite a lot of effort. It seems too that in the evening the parking can be full and you may not find a spot. Also, we had dinner at the restaurant but the waitress brought out our mains while we were still eating our starter then took it back into the kitchen. I’m sure they put it under the heat lamp while finished our starter. The food was also overpriced in our opinion. My pork belly was very chewy, disappointing really. For us, our stay didn’t live up to the reviews and our expectations.
The pub and room has been tastefully renovated but our room was quite small, especially the bathroom. Parking on-site was great.

Unusual odour from bathroom! Hotel management took on board our issue and resolved immediately. Brilliant customer service.
Relaxed bar. Nice restaurant, food very good. Lovely breakfast. Fantastic staff throughout the establishment. Will definitely return soon.

I missed the electric charger
it's a great hotel, pub and restaurant- we were traveling and this is a good stop for one night- also business wise a nice hotel to stay for a night.
