Bathroom was very tired. There was some unsightly brown tape covering a hole above the toilet cistern

Deshpal on reception gave us a warm welcome and was very friendly and helpful. Room and hotel very clean.

The bedrooms need a bit of an uplift but the hotel staff stated this was in their forward plan. This did not affect our stay in any way.

All of the staff were extremely polite, friendly, helpful and efficient. Improvements in the reception and lounge areas from our previous stay in this hotel were very good. The food at dinner was excellent and breakfast had a wide choice of items and again was a great start to the day. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The room was also very clean on arrival. The hotel is in a great location near to a park and ride which takes you into York city centre.

There was a lot of noise from people on the corridor and a room nearby.

The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The area around the hotel was nice. The hotel had a large car park, and was near the Park and Ride for York. I recommend the hotel, and will stay there again the next time I want to visit York.

Whilst the decor in communal areas was really good the room was a little tired, with dated furniture and some scuffs etc which need a little TLC to bring it up to my idea of a 4 star hotel. The room was hot upon arrival, thermostat didn't control the temperature, had to be turned off at the rad valves to get to a bearable temperature. Window only opened a couple of inches, I understand this is probably H&S related but the airflow wasn't sufficient. TVs in the room were a bit small too.

The staff were fantastic, really attentive and friendly and the housekeeping team were brilliant and very thorough. The bathroom was excellent, jacuzzi bath was a plus.Toiletries were great. The location was good, grounds are lovely and quiet, no traffic noise and bed was very comfortable.

There was nothing not to like, very impressed with the hotel but definitely more impressed with the staff and the grounds.

Amazing location and the staff bent over backwards to help. No request phased them, arrived back at the hotel after concert and the bar was closed but the staff at the front reception were more than happy to accommodate and get us some drinks. The guy on the front desk with the "soul patch" was exceptional and couldn't do enough to help, 10/10 service all round.

The location was quite far out. I was happy to stay there as I was attending a course within the hotel but it is quite rural with no shops or facilities in walking distance.

Breakfast wasn’t great, lukewarm and not a great choice. Bedroom was a bit tired, decor was worn and we had cobwebs in the corner of the room.

Staff were fantastic, evening meal was good - special mention from my wife for the belly pork!! And the bed was amazingly comfortable.

The decor was a little tired, the wooden furniture was very worn and the shower didn't work, no hot water, yet the water to the taps was steaming hot. The place just needs some basic TLC.

Perfectly located, 3 miles out of York. Just down the road from the main park and ride which we used. Really easy and good value to get into the town centre with no hassle. The room we had was huge, well laid out with a very large TV. The superking bed was very comfortable. We didn't have an evening meal, ate in town, but the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were very good, efficient and polite.

    More organisation, more bar staff.

Four of us checked in which wasn't too well organised. It took some time sorting out.Prior to our arrival I had requested a lift accessible room and 3 pillows each on our bed.I received an email stating my request would be honoured in time for our arrival to the hotel, however, none of these things were carried out. THANK YOU USH! I think you need to assess your reply to my request. We were shown to our rooms in the old part of the hotel, upstairs with no lift access, not good for both me and my brother in law who have breathing issues,we were given another room on the ground floor.Their room was ok,ours had a broken toilet seat. So,back down to reception it was,my husband and I were allocated another room on the first floor which was accessed by a lift,it was the last but one room which was the furthest room away from the lift!A little tip to those with mobility issues..request a lift accessible room…whether you would get one though is another thing! We were given a voucher for a free drink in the bar, it was a nice gesture from Aman the duty manager but we were very limited as to what we could have. My husband ordered a becks blue which wasn’t one of the drinks on the list! We asked about a table for our evening meal only to be told we couldn’t book a table in the restaurant until after 8pm as there was a large party of 27 already booked in,but meals were also served in the bar area.We all ordered our meals at the same time. Two meals came out together followed by the other two which came out 45 minutes later,so not the meal we had planned on eating “together!”On check out when we asked for our bills,we noticed that a service charge had been added to our bill, isn’t a service charge supposed to be given for good service?Breakfast on our first morning was perfect in every way, however on the second and final morning everything was wrong. No plates, empty yogurt bowl, very low amounts of hot food,no baked goods,no bread,no butter!

The room was acceptable and clean but rather tired. It was clearly past the date for a full refresh. The breakfast was good but the staff were clearly struggling with the numbers and it took a while for things to appear.
