Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdom£12 for breakfast was - for me - a bit steep as I usually just have coffee, fruit and muesli for breakfast. Maybe an ordinary breakfast for £6 and full cooked for £12 option could be considered? Taxis into town a bit pricey coz of the distance but I realise - of course - that nothing can be done about that!
The room, the staff, the hotel building and the grounds were all spot on. Easy to find the hotel and a generous sized car park both helped too.

United KingdomA personal thing, but I didn’t like that dogs staying at the hotel were allowed in the restaurant, very unhygienic. We walked past a room in the evening on the way back to ours and the dog was barking, would not have enjoyed being in the rooms next door to that one!
Easy to reach location close to main routes at the northern side of York. Room was perfect for a family stay with all the amenities you require. The restaurant food in the evening was excellent, having both an adult and children’s menu options. Food options were good, and the quality excellent. Breakfast was good, usual options, they mainly focused on the cooked English options which were good. I would personally have preferred a wider selection of cold meats, cheeses, breads, pastries etc, although some were on offer it could have been a wider selection.

United KingdomThe rooms were a little dated. There had clearly been a leak from the room above and the ceiling was stained. Also the bathroom light panel was hanging off (my husband fixed it). We put down the third bed so we could put up our travel cot and the floor was filthy! Clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a very long time! Was also very expensive! Cost us just under £17 for 2 drinks!
Staff were really lovely, especially the reception staff. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful.

United KingdomThe bedrooms need a bit of an uplift but the hotel staff stated this was in their forward plan. This did not affect our stay in any way.
All of the staff were extremely polite, friendly, helpful and efficient. Improvements in the reception and lounge areas from our previous stay in this hotel were very good. The food at dinner was excellent and breakfast had a wide choice of items and again was a great start to the day. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The room was also very clean on arrival. The hotel is in a great location near to a park and ride which takes you into York city centre.

United KingdomThere was a lot of noise from people on the corridor and a room nearby.
The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The area around the hotel was nice. The hotel had a large car park, and was near the Park and Ride for York. I recommend the hotel, and will stay there again the next time I want to visit York.

United KingdomWhilst the decor in communal areas was really good the room was a little tired, with dated furniture and some scuffs etc which need a little TLC to bring it up to my idea of a 4 star hotel. The room was hot upon arrival, thermostat didn't control the temperature, had to be turned off at the rad valves to get to a bearable temperature. Window only opened a couple of inches, I understand this is probably H&S related but the airflow wasn't sufficient. TVs in the room were a bit small too.
The staff were fantastic, really attentive and friendly and the housekeeping team were brilliant and very thorough. The bathroom was excellent, jacuzzi bath was a plus.Toiletries were great. The location was good, grounds are lovely and quiet, no traffic noise and bed was very comfortable.

United KingdomThere was nothing not to like, very impressed with the hotel but definitely more impressed with the staff and the grounds.
Amazing location and the staff bent over backwards to help. No request phased them, arrived back at the hotel after concert and the bar was closed but the staff at the front reception were more than happy to accommodate and get us some drinks. The guy on the front desk with the "soul patch" was exceptional and couldn't do enough to help, 10/10 service all round.

United KingdomThe decor was a little tired, the wooden furniture was very worn and the shower didn't work, no hot water, yet the water to the taps was steaming hot. The place just needs some basic TLC.
Perfectly located, 3 miles out of York. Just down the road from the main park and ride which we used. Really easy and good value to get into the town centre with no hassle. The room we had was huge, well laid out with a very large TV. The superking bed was very comfortable. We didn't have an evening meal, ate in town, but the breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were very good, efficient and polite.
