Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWhat's not to like, it's a dream cottage.
A beautiful little cottage that's absolutely perfect in every way. It is five minutes from my mum and dad's and pet friendly. Welcomed home to Cornwall with another beautiful welcome card from Sally and Peter, a bouquet of fresh tulips, fresh scones with clotted cream and jam. Could easily stay here forever.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike.
The cottage was a delight, cosy and comfortable. Peter and Sally the owners had very kindly decorated the property for Christmas as well as providing flowers and chocolates. Such kindness made us feel all the more welcome. The cottage was very well equipped and the bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. We enjoyed our Christmas at Jowders Cottage.

United KingdomThe fact that I nearly had a nervous breakdown getting down the tiny alleyway to the parking bay. It might be a good idea to warn people at the time of booking about this as if your driving a van or a 4x4 I'm not sure you would get through. Apart from that lovely place.
Lovely peaceful location 5 mins from pubs etc. Really Really well appointed property. Loads of lovely thoughtful touches fresh coffee milk, extra heating.

United KingdomA slight drawback was access to the parking space which as advised is very tight.
The location is very good and within a short walk of the centre of Marazion. Nice comfortable cottage with everything we needed. We did not meet the hosts, however the small issue with a lamp not working was remedied the same day. We had a very enjoyable week.

United KingdomGetting into parking area not so easy with a larger vehicle but that was well explained up front. The 24 hr car park in the town was fine once unloaded anyway.
Quirky but roomy living space with comfortable furniture and a homey atmosphere. Main bedroom is large and beautiful too with a view over roofs of the Mount. Loved the little courtyard space too.

United KingdomThe only drawback was parking, which, in a large car we found to be very difficult. In fairness, this was clearly indicated in information about the cottage at the time of booking and we came knowing it could be a problem. So this is not in any way a criticism of Peter and Sally.
The location, near the village centre, and the cottage was generally very clean and comfortable, especially the main living room. There was also plenty of detailed information about the property and nearby facilities.

United KingdomNothing that we didn't like.
Had a wonderful few days staying at this lovely Cornish cottage. We felt relaxed as soon as we walked through the door and it was so cosy and nice to return to after a busy and long day exploring. The cottage has one of the most comfortable and cloud-like beds I've ever slept in! Thank you to Peter and Sally for being such great hosts, we very much appreciated the thoughtful welcoming touches and I was very grateful for all the advice Peter provided prior to our stay which was so helpful. The cottage is located in a great location in Marazion from which to explore even if you don't have a car and we just used the local buses, coastal buses and our legs! Would love to return to this delightful Cornish cottage at some point! :-)

MexicoQuite a lot of drilling and banging next door. Not the fault of Jowders but took away some of the tranquillity. Parking close by but complicated parking on busy road with hazards on to unload. But doable.
Beautiful self contained cottage with spacious rooms, sitting room and kitchen. Very well equipped for staying one week. Little summer house by tge front door which was perfect for the rainy afternoons when we didn't feel like walking down to the beach or along the coastal path. The south Wwst coastal path and Saint Michael's Mount v close by. Large bathroom with a good shower
