Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomUnfortunately the tv was playing up. we couldn’t just switch it on and watch. only managed to get normal channels through my husbands bbc sign in. otherwise all other Netflix etc were still available. appreciate we were only there a few days so not a lot of time to get engineer in although Tracey the house keeper came over to try and help. not a huge problem but just a bit of a nuisance we couldn’t easily turn on to watch news.
it was a beautiful cottage from top to bottom. Welcome pack on arrival. Plenty of seats and couches to relax. The beds were really comfortable and the bedding and pillows were first class. Heating was great and adjustable which we needed as we’d gone from sunshine to snow. Everything you need in a home.

United KingdomNothing, we will be back! The only thing I would say is it could do with a few pegs by the front door for wet coats.
Everything! The cottage is beautifully decorated and made to feel homely. The welcome basket was lovely. Great location, perfect for exploring the Peak District and some great walks from the cottage. There is also a pub serving food (good pub food) within a few minutes walk.

United KingdomEverything was perfect, no complaints at all.
Beautiful cottage, luxuriously decorated but felt very homely. Everything that you could possibly need was provided, together with a lovely welcome pack. Lots of space inside for 4 people and very comfy beds. Cottage is very well situated for exploring the area - 5 mins in the car from Bakewell, 30mins from Matlock, 15mins from Eyam. Would definitely return and will recommend to others - 5* accommodation.

United KingdomJuniper cottage We stayed at juniper cottage for 4 nights in December as a mini moon holiday. We could not bring happier with the time we spent there. The cottage is beautifully decorated and comes complete with all creature comforts and necessary items eg dishwashing tablets, plates and cutlery, tvs, dvds, books even down to an amazing welcome hamper with treats, chocolate, bread and Prosecco - very nice touch. The showers and in fact the whole property was clean and tidy and everything had been thought through in a lot of detail to make the stay perfect. Over Haddon itself is closely situated to Bakewell which was a beautiful town and close to Thornbridge brewery and Chatsworth House. The village also has a lovely independent pub Lathkill Hotel. Beds and living spaces were spacious and comfortable and each cottage had designated parking. Would strongly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to get away in the peaks and will most definitely be visiting again.

United KingdomCouldn't really fault the stay. We were rained in on one day, so stayed inside. The TV could do with modernising, it ran a little slowly and the sockets at the back were difficult to reach. Minor point.
The cottage had large family friendly rooms. It was also well stocked and had just about everything you'd need/or forgot you needed to bring. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to stay near Bakewell. Tucked away in a quiet courtyard with designated parking. Great views nearby and a local pub to enjoy it from.

United KingdomWe didn't dislike anything about the cottage or the village of Over Haddon. However we would have preferred to stay somewhere within walking distance to Bakewell at this time of year but everywhere was fully booked due to The Christmas Market being held this particular weekend. After visiting Haddon Hall Christmas Fair (Highly recommend) we wanted to finish the day having a few drinks and an evening meal in Bakewell but it's far too dark on the country lanes at this time of the year to walk back to the cottage. Don't let this put you off. Juniper cottage is a fantastic place to stay.
Amazing cottage in a beautiful peaceful location which is very tastefully decorated and immaculately clean! It certainly has the WOW! factor. We received an unexpected welcome pack on arrival which was excellent and a lovely thoughtful gesture. Lots of great scenic walks on your doorstep with breathtaking views. I would highly recommend Juniper cottage and hope to return during the summer!
