Took us a while to drain the bathroom sink, the plug was 'stuck' but however it actually wasn't. It was a push plug! We just didn't realise ...oops!

Was a lovely home with all the essentials we would have needed.

Moldy bathroom ceiling and blind, stained sheets, 3 large flies and a few moth flying around room on arrival, peeling wallpaper with visible mold underneath in entrance hallway, sticky and disintegrating lids on jar of tea, teacups wet with slightly brown liquid (old tea not washed out fully?).

Good location for access to Magee Campus and easy walk from centre. Comfortable bed.

Was surprised to find it’s a converted house in a residential area however it’s only 10 minutes walk into the city centre so perfect for that front. Also no allotted parking for the property so parked in side street.

Perfect as a base for being a tourist. Only 10 minutes walk from town centre.

We thought we were booking with a guest house but it has more of a hostel feel with private rooms in an older semidetached flat sort of building in a neighbourhood of other semi-detacheds. The site is unmanned, you access the building and room with an access code. The room and bathroom were probably nice in the beginning hence great reviews that persuaded us to book, but not anymore. There is a great deal of repair and maintenance needed which wouldn’t even cost that much, it would be as easy as using the right fixings or wiping stains off the walls. We had no curtains (evidence of a past curtain rail broken off the wall) only broken blinds that didn’t stop light coming in from street lamps at night and sun in the morning. The bathroom is well appointed but the drains were blocked and there was no working extractor for it or ventilation for the room so we had to leave the windows open while we slept which didn’t feel safe for the area. The walls were a bit gross and some of the tea cutlery was still dirty. When we moved the mattress to check for bedbugs (which we rarely feel we need to do) the headboard fell off the wall. I let the landlord know through email but didn’t get a response. Holes in the wall showed it wasn’t the first time. We didn’t find any bedbugs, only curry stains and old rice. Probably what bothered us most was the smell as soon as we entered the building. It smelled strongly of sweat. It was so bad that if we hadn’t arrived so late we would have left and found somewhere else for the night. It stank in our room too and that smell didn’t diminish throughout our stay. There is probably a market for this accommodation but would be more accurate to advertise as a hostel of some kind and if it’s not possible to deal with the maintenance, cleanliness, and smell issues then the price should reflect it. We left as fast as we could the next morning and didn’t bother exploring Derry as planned.

The location. It is within walking distance of restaurants and the walled city.

Smelled damp. No curtains and the vertical blinds were broke. Not very private with the blinds because of them been broke. I like to sleep in a dark room this definitely wasn't.

No security at all. A self check in meant no one around at all. Doors would not lock, also there seemed to be no means of escape in cases of emergency . Never stayed as felt unsafe, disappointed no refund or support from booking.com

Nothing about the place was in any way nice, we felt totally unsafe, god forbid there was a fire, no means of escape, not sure how this property is allowed to operate, avoid.

No parking, room was quite dirty on arrival, orange sticky stains running down the wall onto the skirting board, the doorframe had been forced in prior to our arrival and was repaired by using 2 large screws to keep it intact. The WiFi wasn't even available to access on our phones. The walls were paper thin, and we could hear every word of conversation in the room next door, not to mention the after dark activity too. No milk, orange juice, or ice provided as promised in the welcome pack. The cups in the room were caked in white residue, as were the cups in the bathroom. Tiling in the bathroom was unfinished around the door frame, and holes in ceiling of both rooms too. Felt a bit duped in the unitial advertisement as to what we were booking. The property was a house conversion, more akin to a hostel, not a guesthouse.

    Fairly close to the City.
