Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe entry doors can be a bit like the krypton factor, lol, but quite cute and funny. The code I had for the lock was incorrect on Booking.com - so rang the host, who picked up immediately and gave us the correct code. To access the living room with one of the 3 keys can be tricky, but you just need to keep on wriggling it and you'll get there eventually.
Was a lovely, quaint, apartment. Bonus was that bigger, cheaper and much more homely than a hotel room. They even have a coffee, tea and sugar just, so you don't need to take your own (unless you need milk).

AustraliaUnusual air lock, two-stage door entry into house which you can't get through with a day pack on your back. The bedroom and bathroom part are on another floor, but like a separate apartment via a group staircase. At first we thought there was no bed or bathroom. It would be helpful to tell people. The lounge is very old and lumpy, could do with a bit of an upgrade.
Lovely outlook over thatched cottages, walking distance to castle. Parking info was helpful

United KingdomWeren't told in the booking confirmation that it was on 2 levels, if the cleaner hadn't have had to bring keys to me I wouldn't have known the bedroom and bathroom were upstairs via a communal staircase. Should have read previous reviews to find this out Front doors were extremely awkward to use due to not having enough clearance to open both.
Location and kitchen facilities were good. When I rang about the keys missing from the key safe I got a prompt response. Regarding parking it was very clear there wasn't any with the flat but found places to park

United KingdomCouldn’t find a bottle opener !
Great location in a pretty part of the old town opposite the castle. Ten mins walk to our restaurant The Cross ( very good) and only a couple of minutes to the pub next door for our second night meal . 20 min drive to our golf venues so all good from a location point of view . A little mishap about the location of the keys but all sorted quickly by the owner. A small cost apartment split over two levels but a nice place for a short break and would book again

United KingdomThe description should include the fact that the two rooms are on different floors, linked by a corridor shared with the other apartment and steep, narrow stairs with low ceiling and no handrail. We had read reviews and were aware when booking, but it would not be suitable for anyone with reduced mobility, especially handling large bags. Awkward entry through two doors. "Castle view" is a stretch!
Location was perfect for us (close to the venue for an event my partner was attending and to several good restaurants). Spacious bathroom and excellent shower. Separate living room was a bonus as we had some time to spend in the apartment. As we booked at quite short notice, the price was very good in comparison with other local options.

United KingdomThe kitchen area and bedroom area are in 2 separate locations. Although you have exclusive access, to move between them requires going through an area shared with the other bedsit.
I needed to get a room quickly because the airbnb I had booked had been broken into and trashed. This room was available on very short notice. Keys easily collected from a combination keysafe fairly late at night. Good facilities available if you have your own food with you.

United KingdomDifficult to get in past the double entrance doors, especially with cases. The light for the upper staircase to the bedroom didn't work and there was no other source of light on the steep stairs and no handhold. The upper stairs were frankly dangerous. The kitchen was as sparse as it could be, equipment poor, e.g. one cereal bowl for two guests. The sofa was old and lumpy. Although called Castle View, the castle is not visible from the windows. I had paid for this accommodation for two friends who were visiting us and they didn't like the place at all and blamed me for not inspecting it first. The best description of it is probably poky.
The bed was comfy and the shower was fine.
