Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomFriendly attentive staff. We had a beautiful ground floor room with terrace opening on to the walled garden. The grounds and castle are stunning and the peacocks are amazing to watch. We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea on arrival and breakfast on both mornings was perfect. A very relaxing stay in a beautiful part of the country. Thank you x

IrelandThe peacocks although lovely were very noisy at 4-4.30am but that might have been a once off! The water fountain in the Thermal Suite served very warm water so hopefully that can be fixed. The food in the bistro bar was just okay, nothing to write hime about.
The location is stunning as is the history of the building itself & the castle, amazing restoration work. The interiors & the use of large glass windows everywhere are brilliant, everything’s very new & clean. The staff were all top class, extremely friendly & professional, they really made a difference. The breakfast (&choices) was excellent especially the sausages.

United KingdomThe spa is quite small & there are not enough places around the pool to relax so more sunbeds would have been great. The part of the pool with the jets could be heated and the water machine was broken. There is a hot tub which is a great touch but the bushes need to be cut lower so you can see the view!
The location is stunning. We had a view of the walled garden & the Mourne Mountains from our room and from the restaurant there are amazing views of Killeavy Castle itself. The room was a great size and the bed was very comfortable. There were rituals products & robes & slippers too. The food in the restaurant was excellent! The cod risotto was divine & one of the best dishes I've had in a long time! The restaurant staff were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel spoilt.

United KingdomPrices are a bit exspensive but i suspose nowadays you have to spend to get this type of experience. It was worth the price tag.

United KingdomEvening dining was rather disappointing. Bar snacks were only mediocre. Burger meat was not kitchen prepared. Poor quality. Looked and tasted more like a cheap supermarket product. Restaurant with only two tasting menus; one at £72 and the other at £55, attracted few guests. This aspect of the venue needs reconsideration. But, otherwise, a wonderful hotel.
Breakfast was excellent. Splendid venue with views

United KingdomThe heating in the room was turned down as low as possible, but we still found it too warm during the night. I know the hotel is keen to push it's eco credentials, but as the room only had a patio door which led out onto a balcony which was easily accessible by staircase from the ground and neighbouring rooms, it didn't seem like an option to leave the door open. I think it's a genuine omission for these types of rooms not to have air conditioning. The balcony design was a nice feature but it's been designed in such a way that guests in neighbouring rooms could easily see into yours (either accidentally or deliberately). Something you don't quite expect on the second floor although a couple of inexpensive and unobtrusive screens would easily remedy this. The only other comment and it's not really a complaint, is that from the main car park, it's not entirely clear how to find reception when entering the from the spa side of the hotel.
The room was large, beautifully decorated, with plush carpets, modern furniture and was easily the cleanest hotel room I've stayed in. The bathroom was lovely and nice to find it had underfloor heating, and the in-room "Rituals' wash products were fantastic. The room as a whole really oozed quality. The grounds were really beautiful, set well away from hustle and bustle of Newry town centre and we enjoyed the short walk through the estate lanes and fields after breakfast, which was good but not exceptional. We never got to use the spa but it looked beautiful, and very well appointed. The TV had a very welcome feature that made it very easy to stream Netflix etc from your own device (much much easier than chromecast)

IrelandRooms are too warm, even with thermostat turned down and window open it never got below 18 degrees. Great in winter but not during the summer! Thankfully room had a portable fan so it had to go on. Television seemed to have a life of its own at times, just changing language setting and going back to home screen. Breakfast - you could get some dishes made to order but if you didn't like those it was buffet breakfast and tbh I am not a fan of them in any hotel but had hopes for this one but sadly i was left disappointed. It is what it is with this type of breakfast.
It is a beautiful place, lots to see and do. We were only staying for 1 night so limited to what we could do. We loved the thermal suite and the hot tub in the spa. We went on a short walk and the scenery is fabulous. The rooms are beautiful and We ate in the bar and it didn't disappoint. It was all delicious. Definitely somewhere to be able to switch off and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside.

United StatesThe room was warm, and we tried to adjust the temperature ourselves. We later discovered there is no air conditioning, and were informed about a fan in the closet. The fan helped out a bit, but it took awhile to figure that out (the first time we called the front desk, they didn't tell us about the air conditioning limitations or the fan--it took a second visit to get the full information when it was just too hot to take).
The hotel was magical--it's a beautiful setting, with plenty to do outdoors. The spa service was wonderful--I only wish I had more time to enjoy it. We also did the pre-set chef's menu for dinner. It was outstanding, and I highly recommend it. The rooms were very comfortable, and the amenities and toiletries were a treat.
