We stayed here for the second time and it is really charming. You feel the tradition and heritage of former times. An after dinner drink in the hunting lodge is a must. The breakfast was superb. Highly recommended

Only disappointment was no supper on Sunday and Monday. Only found this out a few days before after booking many months before. It was a shame not to spend the evening in the hotel given the lovely facilities

Our stay at Kincraig Castle was amazing. The staff are lovely and welcoming, the location is perfect for exploring the highlands, the building is very traditional and majestic yet very well taken care of. The food in the restaurant is also great.

From the warm, friendly and helpful welcome we received upon our arrival through to the comfort of the mattress everything at Kincraig either matched or exceeded our expectations. Kincraig Castle Hotel is very conveniently situated on the A9 route thirty minutes north of Inverness. It is set well back from the road so traffic is neither seen nor heard. The grounds are very pleasant and afford views into the distance across fields to the south. The same view is seen from the dining room, bar and some bedrooms. The bedroom we had was very spacious with wardrobe, drawers, desk, two arm chairs, small table and TV. The bathroom was large and brightly decorated. Both rooms were well heated and most comfortable in March. The main lounge area was large with an open fire burning bright, a wide range of comfortable seating and decorated as well as furnished to a high standard. The restaurant was bright and cheerful with tables well spaced and excellent service from very positive, attentive staff. Food at dinner was very tasty and well presented with a short, but varied, menu. At breakfast there was a very good selection of cereals, fruit, compote, yoghurt, fruit juice, etc. The hot menu as well as the usual Scottish fare included a variety of other options including smashed avocado on toast with a very nice salsa, poached eggs and balsamic. We could have happily breakfasted here for several days! This was our first visit to Kincraig Castle Hotel but certainly not our last. The team who have taken over in 2023 are doing an outstanding job and long may they succeed.

The only comment I have is about the room lighting. It would probably be described as atmospheric, but for me it was a bit tricky. Certainly not a negative just personal.

Very limited Dinner Menu (Steak, Fish or a Vegetarian option) and the Bar Menu was just Burger, Fish and Chips or the same Vegetarian Curry as in the Dining Room. All of the Staff were without question excellent in every way and we'd like to give special thanks to Natalia who despite seeming to be the only one on duty in the Bar and Restaurant was happy, considerate and always smiling! Also thanks for the card and special Birthday Dessert, it meant a lot.

The staff in the off-season were not trained to the level the accommodation provokes. Inconsistent delivery, uniforms were often not matching and too often the staff introduced their own personal issues in view of the guests, such as running around, passing off questions until they had completed a task and generally did not know how to deal with customers of a higher standard than the usual locals. I suggest you give you staff unilateral training and have a floor manager that keeps the quality consistent.

The bed was the lowest point. It was hard and so old that it had major indents on either side, to the point that my wife and I were each sleeping in a small trench. We asked for a comforter/quilt and used it to fluff the bed up after the first night. This helped quite a bit, but new beds would make a big difference.

The staff was friendly and attentive and the site was beautiful. I would recommend paying for the breakfast as every option on the menu was delicious.

Bedroom decor was a bit dated and worn. Would've been an ideal stay had the bedroom been a it more up to date. However it was very clean.
