The bathroom although clean and perfectly useable, needs a little updating and a few very small things repairing.

The location was great, very central, plenty of free parking, dog friendly, the pub itself had an old world charm, breakfast was lovely and made to order, even had a couple of extras for our dog who was staying with us! The bungalow was clean and tidy with pretty much everything you needed, although a tea towel would have been handy in the kitchen!

The bathroom was tiny and the plasticky wallpaper was cracking and drooping in places - quick and easy fixes, I suppose. The guest in the next room snored realllly loud - nothing to do with the hotel.

The Location was perfect, near the top of the road, with parking on both sides - a nice post-supper walk around town was very pleasant, the place felt very safe. The Breakfast was every bit as EXCELLENT as other reviewers have described! Floor staff at both dinner and breakfast were very friendly and accommodating too! That burger at supper was very very good and fantastically filling. I also took my bike to Castle Howard just 10 miles away - a breathtaking ride in every sense!!

Although we enjoyed our stay in the bungalow, I think it could be noisy in the summer months as the beer garden is at the front of the property.

We stayed in the Family Bungalow which was very good. It was spacious, clean and had everything you needed for a short stay. The Landlord/Manager was very friendly and attentive. Great location with easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors and nearby towns such as Pickering and Helmsley.

The bed was a bit too small for us so we didn’t have a great night sleep. The breakfast choice was great however when mine arrived the scrambled eggs had been microwaved and were inedible, and the sausage wasn’t nice but the dog enjoyed it!

Loved the self contained cottage at the back to stay in, it was very cute! The evening meal was lovely in the pub itself, we enjoyed the history too. The staff were really friendly and accommodating.

Could have done with a table & chair in the room. Shower not very hot.

Pleasant property in a nice location, good as a base for my visit to nearby Blakey Ridge. Compact room, but comfortable and clean. Tasty breakfast and evening meal. Welcoming, friendly staff - landlord Matthew was very convivial, proper Yorkshire hospitality! Handy on-site parking.

My wife is vegetarian and there is no full English option for her on the menu, so she asked a member of staff who was serving if it was possible to have one, however the member of staff wasn't English and didn't understand fully our request, although only ordering 4 breakfast items, we had to tell her numerous times what we wanted (maybe a pen and a note pad in future may help her) and after an awkward conversation, frustratingly my wife ordered an omelette and asked the server what fillings were available, after a shrug of the shoulders, she replied "bacon", even though we have just informed her that my wife is a vegetarian, maybe she isn't use to the term vegetarian, who knows?. Anyway, when it came it was very greasy and disappointing. On the second day the kids wanted waffles, but they did not have any, my daughters second choice was the fruit salad, to which we was told you had to order this day before, which I find strange.

Full English Breakfast was nice, location is great for getting about and seeing local attractions, we had the cottage and it was lovely and warm, it is a nice size for a two adults a 13 and a 7 year old who shared the pull out bed and it has a shower and a bath, parking a plenty right outside the cottage and they accommodated our dog Remus as well.
