How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Peaceful, quiet, calm, very comfortable. Super comfy bed and all you need in the usual bedroom and en suite set up. The "extra" was having a lovely private sitting room with a log burner fired up by the hosts for me. in the eveing so i could work or relax reading. The locality is good for touring and visiting Rosemoor, the coast and historic sites in N Devon. And i should mention excellent breakfasts and friendly hosts as well.

Having to leave early.
Kipps Farm is in a lovely quiet location. Our Hosts Ken and Jean were exceptionally helpful and attentive, offering extra comforts and treats. The dinning room was made warm and cosy, and the quality breakfast was most enjoyable.

Absolutely nothing to grumble about.
Perfect in every respect. A warm welcome, cosy warm bedroom, a suoer room in which to relax and enjoy a delicious breakfast, comforting log fire, exceptionally kind and welcoming hosts.

Property well out of the way but given really good directions by our hosts so we found it easily. It would have been more difficult in the dark.

We had a little trouble getting down the lane because our car was totally overloaded but with the friendly help from the host we managed to get up the lane again in the morning.
Most friendly hosts that couldn't do enough for us. Very cheerful and chatty. The breakfast was very good with all the trimmings in a beautiful dining room. We had a very good night's sleep in a comfy bed and the room had all you need for a B&B stay, even FRESH milk! It's a little off the beaten track but with good directions from the host easy to find. We would highly recommend a stay at Kipp's Farm.

Lovely warm welcome with a hot drink that was most welcome after a day at RHS Rosemoor. The property was made easy to find using the detailed instructions provided.

Slightly off beaten track but instructions for location were clear and helpful - so no problem.

Personal touches such as pot of tea on arrival. Breakfast was delicious. Location was a little remote but very quiet and peaceful. Owners were lovely people, very helpful. Left with a bag of plant cuttings that I’d enquired after.

Great breakfast, welcoming hosts - they provided cutlery for our picnic supper - really helpful. We had had a very busy day nearby so didn’t want to drive anywhere, so a minor snag is the distance to a nice pub. But we were very happy!!

Charming and helpful hosts. Lovely mature garden. Well located for RHS Rosemoor gardens. Excellent breakfast and breakfast room with real antiques. We’ve stayed there several times and it always meets expectations.

Lovely quiet location, ideal for Rosemoor. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable although a bit small, but that was fine as we were able to sit outside in the evening, and there was a lounge we could have used if the weather hadn't been so good.

Really friendly host. Greated us at the car on arrival and provide coffee and biscuits on the terrace. Lovely comfy bed with a marshmallow of a quilt. Nice clean nsuite shower /wc. Well stocked tea and coffee-making facilities in the room with a fridge also available. Excellent tv reception and free WiFi.
