Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesAfraid to say the little tags on the golf course tattered, bad form. And dinner could be more welcoming, we had to eat elsewhere both nights as you all required a reservation a day in advance, even though we arrived hours before closing time.
A grand hotel of the Old School, proudly standing athwart the tracks of "progress". Most modern hotels are a soulless, homoginized desolate wasteland characterized by nondescript, amorphous, ugly modern art and politically correct sloganeering about progressivist woke "enlightened" social issues. Knoll House a refreshing step back into a more dignified, traditional, and well mannered time. Great service, breakfast, room. Don't give in Knoll House, stay true, interesting, and AWESOME! United KingdomReception was very busy at times. The outdoor pool could do with a deep clean . Build up of algae in corners.
Enjoyed the proximity to the beach and the location to access other areas. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed our evening meal.

United KingdomBar prices were exceptionally high I felt. Paid over £25 for 3 drinks. I don't think dogs should be allowed in the dining room. Every day we heard a dog barking whilst having our meal. I understand this is the owners fault (not well trained dog in this case) and not the hotels fault, but I don't think animals should be inside whilst others are eating. Most people were great with their dogs and discreetly had them in the snug area, whilst they ate.
Superb location and very good quality food with plenty of choices. Friendly staff. Real home from home feel. Quirky hotel and very comfortable.

The relaxing “at-home” feeling. The space and the beautiful trees on the property. The friendliness of the staff and guests. A lovely playground for children. Excellent parking and amazing outdoor swimming pools on the edge of nature. All the photos and pictures on the walls around the hotel- just so interesting. Beautiful crisp linen.

United KingdomMix up with payment.Booked via booking.com who charged for room rate prior to visit.I showed the receipt to reception but they would not accept it and we were charged twice. This was quickly sorted out the next day by booking.com.Advised by receptionist to book directly next time so not sure why the hotel uses booking.com? However booking.com very efficiently sorted this matter out.

The spa was great. The feel of the place was cosy and charming. Quite good breakfast. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel (£2 single fare) and buses had open top decks!

United KingdomDinner included in room price, hmm not exactly... We asked in the restaurant before we ordered our dinner. Restaurant manager said we get £55 allowance per 2 of us then they will charge everything over that, also drinks are not included which would be fair enough if it's actually would work this way BUT HOW IT'S ACTUALLY WORKS You get a £ 55 allowance - for 2 adults we been told by the receptionist when we checked out and got charged a lot more then we expected You get a £ 55 allowance for two adults and get charge over that, drinks excluded. Children not included, now I traveled with a nearly teen and both chose our food from the a'la cart menu and got charged a much larger amount then I thought.
You can keep busy even if the weather is not for "beach time" pool, tennis, golf, playground for the children, playroom for little ones and many many more things to do. The ferry is 5 mins away you can reach Bournemouth in 15 mins easily.

United KingdomBooked half board for my daughter and 2 grandchildren half board but didn’t realise half board didn’t apply to the grandchildren also £27 towards the half board wasn’t enough as the mains were £27 up to £40 and starters and desserts were extra, so the extras on the bill put a dampers on the stay

United KingdomA beautiful hotel and gorgeous setting but some areas of the hotel are a little tired and need updating. But this is a huge job and will take time.
The food was excellent. The hotel had great facilities for all, such as the spa, swimming pool, games room and sports. The setting is great being just a 5 minute walk from the beach. We would definitely come back.

United KingdomThe outside and communal areas look in desperate need of some tlc but some of that adds to the character of the place Some staff were a bit grumpy On the whole we had a fabulous stay
Fabulous access to Studland Beach It is great to be able to take our dog along, with access to all parts of the hotel, with the exception of restaurants, which is fair enough Rooms looked as though recently modernised and clean Walking out in the morning and seeing deer in the gardens Breakfast was nice and staff friendly in there We didn't use the pools, spa etc but good to have on offer

SpainWe had extremely poor dinner service from one waitress 23.07.23. She tried to short change us on a 500l carafe of wine and then recorded our meal as full price when we only had a main each. This situation caused unnecessary stress and embarressment to our family. The spa needs a refurbishment and the jaccuzi didn't work.
We loved the peace and quiet. We had a lovely room with quaint windows and a sea view. Lots of fun activities including swimming pool, tennis and small pitch & put course. Location was very, very good. We particularly enjoyed the sense of history to the building and it's location. And that attempts continue to be made to keep to this original charm and not turn it into a chain. Please continue with this endeavour to be original KH.

United KingdomFar too many dogs everywhere, not only in the rooms but on the furniture in public areas, Impossible to maintain hygene. Hotel is old and tired but still welcoming. However expensive for standard offered. Brought back grown up family and grandchildren after forty -four year gap. Virtually no changes whatsoever. Rumoured to be scheduled for redevelopment. Hardly surprising.
Location cannot be faulted.
