How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Had a fabulous stay here, the owner was super friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and very clean. Ideal location in the centre of Ullapool too. Made it very easy to get out and about. Breakfast was delicious too!

We had such a fantastic stay in Ullapool, a gorgeous place. We booked our stay as a last-minute decision on our trip around the west coast, and it was delightful. We had a huge family room, and the beds were so comfortable. Gorgeous breakfast. Our host was so friendly and very helpful and gave us some brilliant tips for the next part of our road trip. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Room 5 has quite a small shower cubicle and the door handle to the bathroom requires fixing. There were dead insects in the bathroom light fitting and the rubber seals of the cubicle required cleaning or replacing.
An excellent location just a stones throw from the harbour. The new owner Louise is very welcoming and knows that work is required to improve some of the rooms. There is a decent choice for breakfast including Full Scottish, Salmon, Fruit and cereals. There is also a very relaxing communal guest lounge.

The communication from Louise before we stayed was great, and we had a super welcome. The room was spacious, clean and comfy. The shower room was well equipped and large. We had a superb sleep on a lovely bed. The breakfast was freshly cooked, with good ingredients, a good choice and was plentiful. We would definitely stay again.

Louise is a terrific host, place was clean, cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was great, lots hot & cold choices. Location is perfect. We highly recommend the Ladysmith Guesthouse

Fantastic family run business. The host Louise could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious. Ideal location, set just back from the seafront, a very short walk to supermarket and chippy!

There was nothing we didn't like
Very warm , friendly welcome , Louise was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for our 2 night stay Lovely quiet comfortable room with ensuite facilities and there was a cosy guest lounge for us to relax in Excellent breakfast, good selection of cereals, fresh fruit and yogurts.and a cooked Scottish breakfast. We will definitely return.

The owner was away and had not recorded the booking. So when we arrived, the lovely Louise who was looking after the property was very surprised. We did have an email confirmation and a booking number. Luckily, there was a room available.
The room was beautiful and the property was beautifully clean and well maintained. Beds were very comfortable.

Beautiful guest house which was in a great location and beautifully decorated. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast room is beautiful and breakfast was good. Host was lovely and super helpful. Would recommend and would stay here again.

WiFi could function beter. It felt out several times. For the rest no remarks. Maybe Some cheese? We liked almost everything. Continue as you do.
Good warm welcoming done by a friend of the owner who was a weekend away. She did it awsome. She prepared a very Good breakfast. She gave Good and usefull Information. She Born to run her OWN bed and breakfast.
