Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandLack of places to eat - local barge restaurant was closed for 2 weeks when we arrived. Price was very high for what we got.
Stunning location. Bothy is small but clean. Toilets are a small walk away and accessed using a key. Facilities were clean and fucntional

United KingdomIt is basic (which I like) but I think the price is higher than it should be. That would put me off staying again.
The location is superb and it was great to park close by. The building itself is interesting and the wood stove makes it.

•Blackout curtains across door & window •Very comfy bed with a mattress topper. •Fitting homely decoration to the cabin •Basic kitchen facilities (fridge & hob & sink) •Basic kitchen amenities (cutlery & crockery) •Locked shower & toilet facilities (opposite cabin) •Free parking directly outside cabin •Hassle free check in & check out (key in box)

United KingdomA few (mostly minor) issues. The glass in one of the double doors had shattered, and there was a piece of paper telling us not to touch or open that door - I would have expected this to have been fixed before we arrived. Even if it happened immediately before our arrival with no time to repair, I would have appreciated some communication. No curtain on the big glass door, so privacy an issue in terms of getting changed. Row of sockets behind the sink, and the dishes draining board on top of the fridge. The room could've been a bit cleaner. These issues didn't affect us too much, but for £165 a night I think they're worth mentioning.
Convenient bothy which was ideally suited for 3 people on a walking holiday. Nice location on the banks of Loch Lochy, overlooking the canal lock. Good shower.

United KingdomBothy could use updating, lock on the internal door was tricky to use, at the bottom of the external door and window the wood has rotted, and there seemed to be flies getting inside somewhere. But these are relatively minor details, overall the bothy was comfortable and a nice stay.
Location and comfort of property were excellent. Ideal for walkers looking for a warm stay after hiking. Wood burning stove was great for keeping warm at night. Bunk beds were comfortable and we had no problem sleeping at night. Normally they do not accept same day booking but they made an exception as we had booked through booking.com

United KingdomThe bothy was very compact for our group of 3 (up to 4 accommodated), but reasonable facilities for the size. The remote shower and toilet were a little lacking, with what appears to be mould forming on the shower room walls. The locking and unlocking of the facilities was a bit of a pain, remembering to take a key for a pee. One toilet was out of action and both toilets were out of paper at one point - again an irritation.
Great location on the loch side with fantastic views fo the surrounding hills and water. Comfortable compact cabin in a quiet location. Having use of the Eagle Barge was amazing, essentially a pub eatery on the water - with friendly staff.

United KingdomAmazing little place to stay! The pictures advertised do not do it justice. They got so much stuff into such a small space. We stayed in the bunk bed bothy, each bunk had its own light, plug and they'd even put in little shelves along the wall so you had space to put personal items. The pictures suggest there is no bedding/towels so we took sleeping bags and pillows etc but there was no need, all the beds were made up and towels were provided. In the bothy there was also a large sink, a stove, fridge, cutlery, mugs, glasses and washing up liquid and soap. There was also a log burner in the corner, I don't know how they squeezed it all in but it was amazing and didn't feel cramped at all. The toilet and shower were a short walk away and were very clean. A sensational stay!

United KingdomThe shower and toilet facilities are awful, walls are covered in mould and it stank. The actual shower was enclosed in tiling so that was ok
The bothy itself was lovely! Really clean and has its own running water which was a god send

United KingdomThe outside toilets but to be fair it is expected from a cabin like this. Also the log burner did not have a setting for smaller fire, I mean it pulls from the top even when you restrict the air from the bottom. ( I did not mind any of these things but I had to write it here on request of my GF.)
The proximity to all the places that we wanted to go. Very private place. There were also things we did not expect. Like the cuttlery, small cooker, fridge and plates.

AustraliaNo curtains on one of the big doors and there were a group of men camping directly opposite the glass doors which meant I could not get dressed or really be comfortable in the accommodation
Location perfect, directly on the Great Glen Way. Amazing (and free) fireplace which heated up the whole place wonderfully, comfy bed, kitchen was surprisingly well equipped (fridge, stove, sink, plates and cutlery). Just be absolutely aware there are no food sources anywhere nearby

United KingdomShower is barely a dribble and the water wasn’t very hot. As the toilet block and shower are in a separate building, it felt like a public toilet block rather than a £100 a night accommodation. The path to the toilet block is very steep with loose stones so easy to slip. The toilet seat isn’t secure and just one loo roll felt stingy. Worst of all was the fire alarm going off for nearly an hour just after we went to bed. We called the emergency number a few times and eventually it was answered. We were very grateful someone came out to get the alarm turned off. Not very private as people camping right near property and walking past. No curtains to draw on the doors. We tried to get dinner at the Eagle Barge nearby and it was packed and we didn’t feel welcome.
The bothy building itself was comfortable, clean and warm. We particularly liked the wood burning stove although it soon gets a bit hot in a small space. The kitchen area was well equipped for a small space with good fridge, cook plate and sink. Hot water almost on demand. Comfy bed and chair. We enjoyed watching boats go by and had a lovely walk along the Great Glen Way.
