How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Staff are lovely, food absolutely delicious and although the room felt small due to the imposing bed, it was cosy, quiet and comfortable.

Our room was a little dark for us but I know it’s a favourite of most so down to preference I guess. The kettle was a pain it was flimsy and needed unplugging to reach to pour it out. Although breakfast was delivered efficiently and all the food was fresh I would prefer no herbs or balsamic as they weren’t mentioned and I don’t like either. Add it to the menu or leave it off the food I would suggest. Again our evening meal was great apart from the starter. Mushrooms were very chewy and bread soggy, we were told this would be mentioned to the chef so hopefully the bread will change from brioche and mushrooms.
The staff were really attentive and friendly. Kim looked after us at breakfast and Dave looked after us last thing at night, both lovely people. All staff during the day were great. We met Colin one of the owners he was lovely too. The rooms are amazing and very quirky. The bed was really comfortable. We had room 5. A huge bath in the bedroom. Breakfast was hot and fresh. Room cleaned daily. Home made pie was really good in the restaurant.

The room was a little small with not much space but was for for 2 nights.
The breakfast was lovely as were the burgers we had for lunch. The location was perfect as I was brought up in the town and was visiting family. Parking is plentiful. The room we stayed in was in the roof with a beautiful view of the coastline.

Everything about our stay was perfect

The room was beautiful , warm , spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities as advertised. The staff were ALL incredibly friendly and attentive and the breakfast was excellent and the girl serving us could not have done more

Lovely little gem, tucked away in the high street. Really nice decor in the bar area and restaurant. The room I had, had a bath in the room, really nice touch, I'd definitely recommend.

Shower door didn't close properly so bathroom floor got very wet & the 'repair' on the sash window was not quite complete.
Room, apart from two minor issues, was amazing. Breakfast was, as expected, top of the range. Staff were fantastic

Very Small, dark, hot room. Dusty, window wouldn’t stay open so had to wedge open with a book as very stuffy even without the radiator on.

it was hard to get to the house at first .. lack of signs .. but then once you know how you get to it . all is perfect
