We had one of the dog friendly rooms which was not in the main building. On arrival, we found that the room wasn't sufficiently checked/finished and there were dirty drinking glasses on one of the window sills. The floors were also very dusty and covered in dog hair. There was a broken floor lamp without a bulb and the bathroom was very lackluster. We reported it and things were put right (apart from the lamp) the following day as the housekeeper had already gone home (this was around 4.30pm). The room itself was very dated and there was a lot of "old" dirt on light switches, bathroom tiles, bed base etc. The restaurant was overpriced so we had local fish and chips. We had a pleasant stay, but couldn't say it was value for money.

The outside of the building looks amazing and the surrounding areas with panoramic views are fantastic. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed the spa. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a ground floor studio in a separate building to the main house. There was a family with young children above us and it was very noisy with the children running around in the night and early morning. It sounded like they were about to come through the ceiling and it was to the extent that the ceiling lights were shaking in our room.

We required a disabled access room and were very happy with the room we were given. Whilst it was a bit of a walk to the breakfast room it was very accessible and the standard of breakfast was very good. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

The room was a little run down, we were in the family room off the main building and there were steps up to the bathroom. Could have been tricky with younger children, so would have been nice to have been warned. The room could have done with a small fridge, as the weather warms up helpful to keep milk for tea and coffee cold etc

Beautiful building and the facilities were really great. Swimming pool and spa, specific times for the kids to use the pool. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Dining room service was very low. Was seated then Waited 20 mins to order a drink and had to go find someone to make the order as no staff in the dining room. Then wrong drink brought, changed and then loads of ice in my rose wine i didn’t ask for. One staff member was totally lacking in hospitality skills throughout the evening with us and other guests. This all Spoiled me and my partners romantic dining evening.

We were really looking forward to using the spa. When we arrived we noticed the rota which means you don’t have the sauna and steam room on at the same time and we didn’t have time to come back to use the spa again. We thought you could’ve done with a water station or water fountain around the pool or in reception for us stay hydrated after the spa facilities. But these would be my only comments :)

The location was beautiful and we were so impressed with the countryside and views from the hotel. It was the right amount of distance to other local towns. Breakfast was lovely! Staff we super helpful. Drinks in the evening were relaxing and the music in the restaurant was a lovely touch. The room was much better than I thought! Large bathroom with powerful shower, standing mirror, sofa and a coffee machine with all the special touches like biscuits etc.

The standard of cleaning was poor, there was a large cobweb in the corner of the room, a big stain on the end of the bed and dead flies on the window sill. The bed was two singles pushed together.

Because I can’t do stairs very well, we were on the lowest floor. Still lots of steps up and down to get to our room. Perhaps the worst is the front entrance with 4 big steps, no handrail or wall. Food was okay, but why dinner in the cold garden room in the winter? Breakfast was in the warmer dining room, which would have been nice for dinner too.

The apartment we were put to stay in was in a very poor state of cleanliness. Toilet flush was not working,bathroom sink leaking, door to the apartment was very difficult to open. In my opinion,The apartment had not had a thorough clean or inspection by senior managers in some time. I have collected evidence for the cleaning team and management to review.

The inside is in need of an update. The decor hasn’t changed in the last 9 years. The bar has the same green wallpaper and furniture. The confusing dining room seems to be designed to have either a Greek or Roman theme with ugly looking busts staring at you while you eat, this robs the room of any atmosphere and it felt like we were eating in a library just waiting to be told to be quiet
