This is a lovely old hotel in a stunning location. The staff are working very hard to make your stay comfortable and everything in our room worked fine. However, there is no denying that the whole place could do with a makeover. It reminded me of my grandmother's guest house - we are talking 50+ years ago! I'm sure you could do it up without losing its character - I feel sure you won't be disappointed if you do. NB. Finding the hotel was a bit of a challenge. The directions included heading to a car park on the road next to the cathedral. However, there are TWO cathedrals in close proximity in Oban - who would have known?! Just so you know, the hotel is next door to St. Columba's cathedral.

We arrived on the last boat from Mull at 11.35 pm. Fortunately the host was very helpful about our late arrival. She is very friendly and booked us in for breakfast. I loved the fact that some musicians were playing in the bar when we arrived - it was all very relaxed and I was invited to join in. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the bay and the breakfast was very good. Next time I will bring my fiddle and join in the music!

Though it's free car parking I had to struggle to find one after few hours, toilets and bathrooms are very small. Overall it's not worth it

The location of the hotel is fabulous.The hotel is very dated but was clean, the staff are friendly , The breakfast which you order the day before is excellent well cooked , served hot and the staff on duty were excellent as well. The view from the dining room is just perfect . Our room was at the front looking on to Oban bay the same as the view from the dining room . Overall a very enjoyable 2 night stay and I will return to the hotel again,it is not 4 or 5 star accommodation but was perfectly adequate for a break away with 2 young kids .

Cleanliness in bathroom- the shower curtain was mouldy. l would recommend reception staff to be more welcoming and friendly. The hotel inspector would have found much to comment on

My bed was not very comfortable and the tv reception was poor. The shower pressure was poor.

The hotel staff were lovely. They answered all my questions about local attractions and the ferries to Mull etc. It was a lovely walk along the waterfront into Oban. The hotel has a small, but tasty menu.

A slightly more comfy bed... I was afraid I might end up with back ache after one night. Fortunately, I did not.

Arrived late as expected, but had a lovely friendly welcome, and offers to help with our luggage. Room was simple but perfectly adequate, especially for such a short stay. We left very early the following morning so no breakfast was required. Great location... sea view in one of the rooms.

Hotel is quite tired looking. Our room was in the process of being decorated, furniture could do with replacement.

Hotel well situated over looking the water. Good view from breakfast room and public area. Excellent breakfast, cooked to order. Be aware you need to order it the night before. Price we paid very reasonable compared to others in town.

Great location, great staff xxx it was clean but very dated and really needs a paint job undertaken sooner rather than later. Shower in bed broke and would not switch off staff stated on my return to the hotel that it had been fixed but only found they had placed the head of the shower down to slow the flow of the water. So l put towels in the shower basin so the sound of the water did not disturb me during my nights sleep. Plus the bathroom smelt of old taboco. Breakfast was porridge made up with water so very blamed which also included the scrambled eggs, thank god for toast.

I have stayed here many times. I am on a budget and this hotel is always very reasonable in price. It is very dated, but that is not my priority. It is clean, the room is comfortable and had a great view. Wifi works in some rooms and downstairs in the lounge too. The location is superb. First time I have stayed here without a dog. Very friendly, helpful staff. I will return.

Parking was not great. Not enough spaces. Beds were too hard. Rooms were very basic and could do with decorating. Bathroom was very small.

Some areas need TLC which they're getting. Obviously slow process with a building this size. Tiny flat screen TV hardly worth effort.
