There was nothing we could suggest improving. All was good.

The location was beautiful, the welcome excellent, the room delightful and the food delicious. All the staff members were attentive and friendly and considerate. We would recommend the hotel highly.

We didn’t appreciate being asked repeatedly which room we were staying in. It happened numerous times while getting drinks, several times while eating our booked evening meal and during breakfast….again, several times. We had paid for our room and breakfast upfront. It was a very different experience from our previous stay last year (which was delightful and from the moment we checked in, staff were aware that we were staying overnight).

Beautiful house and gardens. Tranquil location. Delicious evening meal and breakfast (although I received something different to what I asked for..not an issue though!)

Perhaps the breakfast and absence of any coffee other than excellent black filtered. Small matters!

The ambience of this unique and historic place is created from the top down. Your welcome is genuine and the staff are helpfulness itself. As for the dinner …. Superb! Put it on your bucket list!!

Room very warm with no air conditioning; pigeons “coo-ing” on bedroom window cill from dawn.

Quirky, characterful and cosy. Excellent food. Within easy striking distance of many activities.

Ok, I saw two spiders in the bathroom. I captured them and put them back outside. If you have concerns about that… don’t come. Im from Texas.. those itty bitty creatures don’t frighten me. In fact a home this old, in the country setting.. it would be impossible nit to see an insect, bring some spray if you have fear of daddy long legs

Set in a rural Scottish village.. the hotel was built by a soldier who returned from the battle of Waterloo. Its a home built in 1870s. If you think its a Marriott… it is not. Don’t even bother if you are looking for a corporate hotel experience. They have nice clean rooms, comfortable beds. The tile walls in the bathrooms glistened they were that clean. 2 robes, bath sheets for after bath / shower. The people have heart and give you every courtesy. They will pack you a lunch for a hike/hunting or fishing. The breakfast was in a beautiful room where we saw pink camellias out of the windows it’s a magical journey back in time.

The hotel is beautiful. The common room with it's wonderful fireplace, and the recently remodeled family rooms, were especially nice. And they did a great job of catering for vegans.

A small complaint but the shower was a bit weak.

This is a fantastic hotel - the building is steeped in history. The interior is in superb condition and it was a privilege to be able to stay there. The central hall with open fire was ideal for sampling a late evening dram. The room was very comfortable and the staff very welcoming.

Some of the chairs/couches in main lounge/hall area could be more comfortable. I think if the bedroom is for two, there should be two chairs, not one.

The lovely staff, the welcoming atmosphere, the very tastefully decorated restaurants, the main lounge/hall area and the excellent service from staff team. The food was excellent, no complaints. Love the area the hotel is in, plenty of places to take a drive to. Hotel is dog friendly which really suited me. dogs can't go into restaurants, but, can stay in room or are allowed into main lounge/hall area if you choose to eat there. I put the dogs in the car while we ate.(windows open of course) The bed is definitely one of the most comfortable I have slept in. Well done to the management and staff team. Oh, and how could I forget the huge open fire and background music.

The sash cord on my room window was broken & meant the top didn’t close up properly (joys of an old building). Although I didn’t feel a draught, it didn’t help in sound-proofing from the pigeons cooing at 5.30am! The shower was lacking in water pressure but did its job, eventually.

The location is lovely, the main sitting area is stunning with well-appointed rooms and pleasant staff.

There are two things that makes this place special: the unique atmosphere and genuinely lovely personnel. Food is great and there is a lot to experience in the area. A lovely walk starts straight from the driveway.

After a six hour drive in torrential rain, we walked into the hotel to be met by the biggest fire and most comfortable sofas. Like finding an oasis in the desert. Staff were very friendly, room very clean and comfortable, evening meal and breakfast were both superb. It was the best vegetarian breakfast I have been given in many hotel stays.

Television reception in room 9 was poor and erratic. At breakfast, uthe smoked fish was not as fresh as we can get in Dalgety Bay.

An interesting location to explore. The fire in the lounge area is a spectacle to savour.
