Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI have never been anywhere previously where toilet paper was not available on arrival. Our deposit was not returned within the promised timescale. After many empty promises, and the intervention of Booking.com, our deposit was finally returned six weeks after leaving the apartment. The television only had streamed programmes and to get live TV it was beyond our technological knowhow. At first glance the apartment looked clean, however there were many dirty cups in the dishwasher and some of the cooking pans were not very clean.
The apartment was a good size and close to restaurants and shops in Leicester.

IrelandThe property looked for a security deposited to be transferred to an IBAN one day before I was due to arrive. This was a stress trying to gather the funds at the first place. After my stay I requested the deposit back, they failed to do so. I had to go through 4 weeks of back and forth torture with Booking.com before Booking.com refunded my deposit. Just to note, there was no debate over the property, it was simply just failure to pay.

United KingdomSmell of apartment on arrival. With windows open the smell, which I believe came from the air-con units for the restaurant below was the cause of the overpowering smell, once windows closed and rooms were sprayed with air freshener the remainder of our stay was alright

United KingdomThe accommodation I stayed in itself is very comfortable, but the staff at the accommodation. Took a security deposit of 150 pounds. And now he's saying that I damaged the apartment and I handed over the entire apartment. I made a video proving this, and they sent me a photo of a broken door handle and in the video of me handing over the apartment the handle is intact, that is. Or someone broke that doorknob. Or they took it apart to say that I broke it just so they wouldn't give me the money back.
I didn't like the accommodation because it wasn't where I stayed. I rented this two-bedroom one, but when I arrived at the place, the accommodation staff said they had already rented it to someone else on the same date they rented it to me. They sent me to another apartment with just one bedroom. And a dirty building. I said I wouldn't stay in that apartment, they put me in another apartment with just one bedroom. And they didn't give me any extra money back for that, even though I paid for a 2-bedroom.

They had left the booking system open. Booking.com were contacted. The owner was contacted by Booking.com. I was advised they would get back to me within 30 minutes. Still waiting 5 days later.

United KingdomAwful property, each room was filthy and run down (including dirty laundry in the washing machine) A very sketchy feel to the property. Incredibly unhelpful host. So much so we felt we could not comfortably and safely stay there. We were forced to find alternative accomodation with no refund given. We have also not been given our security deposit back - scam!

Maldives1. Most uncomfortable mattresses I have ever slept. 2. Pillows in horrible condition 3. Heater in the sitting room was broken. 4. The owner never met us to hand over the key. When we phoned him he asked to go to neighbouring building and collect it. 5. He had asked us to deposit £ 150.00 and we transferred to his account. He did not return the money. He never replied our calls and emails. I'm considering to file a case against him to Leicester Police soon.

United KingdomDO NOT STAY HERE!!! We waited an hour on arrival to be handed the keys,when the owner eventually got in contact we was told to go to pizza gogo next door to collect them. In the property radiators were hanging off of the wall as was the shower. The walls were covered in black footprints and a dirty kitchen,there was a bad smell also. To top it all off I am still waiting 10 days later to be refunded the £150 damage deposit that was supposed to be on departure,I have called and emailed the host several times but have been ignored so she has kept my money. I had read about this on previous reviews but gave benefit of the doubt but the bad reviews are genuine. Location is great but give your money to hosts who will do the best for you.

Property was very lovely it was it a great location very close to everything. It was specious living and the bedrooms were all good aswell.

SingaporeI booked this property 2 months ago on booking com . There was no clause about £ 150 deposit money to pay upfront at the time of my booking .landlord put up this clause after I booked . I was constantly harassed by the landlord for the deposit money , otherwise he would evict my teenager son out during x mas . Landlord claimed this was authorised by booking com . I couldn’t travel to the uk due to illness . My teenager son was alone on his own . I couldn’t cancel this property either , so I asked my son to use it . Well , I m not sure about you . I would be cautious to hand in my deposit money in cash or paying to a personal account without a receipt . There is no guarantee you get a full refund either .
