I didn’t like that the person who checks you in at breakfast ‘ shows you to your table with only one jug of coffee for 3 of us, also our 4th person asked for decaf coffee to be told you don’t supply that, so she had to purchase a latte . Once show to our table we were never approached again to see if we needed a top up coffee or even clear any empty plates .

The selection at breakfast was good but had to wait for eggs .

I didn’t like how in room 5202 we were out of the way in a completely different building, it was confusing and frustrating as it is a long walk and 2 lifts just to get to reception.

Loved the location and how amazing the facilities were, it was beautiful. Had amazing breakfast. Staff were amazing!

Parking charges @ £19 per night for residents felt a little expensive and will be added at check in. However most places we visited in Yorkshire had parking charges that were expensive and the hotel proved to be value for money but it would be nice to have parking adjusted in the price at the booking stage rather than the surprise at check- in. Some areas of the hotel need some TLC but it seems that there is an ongoing process and areas of the hotel are being updated. The beds were a little uncomfortable in our room and we didn’t get the best nights sleep, hopefully they’ll look at updating these in the future. We found that the hotel WIFI was on an unsecured network which is a concern. They really need to provide secure password protected networks for each room.

Fantastic location in the city centre. Within walking distance of all Yorks major historical sites. Also close to the National railway museum which is a must visit. York Train station platform has an entrance direct into the hotel lobby, brilliant for those travelling by train. Breakfast buffet was fantastic, recommend adding to your booking as there will be significant saving than paying per day. The spa facilities were small but very nice & clean. The staff were amazing and made us feel welcome. The hotel bar had a relaxing atmosphere and a decent bar snack/food menu. The hotel is a very impressive building that has a historic connection to the city of York.

there was some works going on at the time of our visit and parts of the hallway ceiling were missing wasn't took away some of the class of the hotel breakfast was average. the view wasn't the best.

enjoyed our stay would definitely stay again but the price was a little steep for one nights stay. the room was clean and the temperature was adequate.

Breakfast buffet was very poor. Little choice with no fruit yoghurt only plain yoghurt. Bread for toaster was damp from the freezer was hard and difficult to cut. Marmalade via dispenser and no marmite.

Be aware if you have food allergies despite advising staff on ordering my food still contained allergen then only part meal replaced causing allergic reaction. Hotel slow to respond

The bedroom was very small and cramped. No chair, just a stool which made for discomfort for me as an early riser. Room temperature was unbearable because of hot pipes running through the room. Air conditioning not yet working. Room was quite drab

Room was looking out over the railway next to the station, which for a superior twin was a bit disappointing as could here the announcements from the station in the room, there was no choice given on room view.
