May just be an off day however some of the staff on reception and in the restaurant seemed to be un-interested and sometimes quite rude when asked a question which made us feel like an inconvenience.

Accommodation was lovely and as described. One of my guests sleep with a sleep apnea machine however there were no plugs near enough to the bed, this was quickly fixed with an extension lead provided by the reception however the hotel could benefit from plugs closer to the bed.

Very beautiful hotel, everything you need for a cheeky get away. Even though renovations are taking place it did not impact our stay at all. The room was elegant and airy.

The property is fine

The renovation work being carried out led to confusion as to what entrance to use. We were locked out for 40 mins due to not being able to gain entrance. The night receptionist Ken, was very rude and unhelpful

Currently being re furbed. Our room didn't match any of the photos advertised. However the room was satisfactory.

Breakfast had a good choice. The location of the hotel is good for the town centre.

Allegedly I was upgraded on check-in, which surprised me considering that I’d resisted the hotel’s attempts to get me to pay for an upgrade earlier in the week. I’d asked for, and had been promised well in advance, a room on an upper floor, as far away from any lift as possible, but this was ignored. The room (137) itself was spacious and very clean, but I can only describe the bathroom as rough-around-the-edges, featuring the cheapest plastic toilet seat I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s good that I didn’t see the original room. Check-in was a little haphazard, given the tiny temporary reception area.

Not much to not like, I didn't have a meal/breakfast or drink in the bar as I was meeting up with friends so cannot comment on those. I did have a dodgy hairdryer which I reported.

I was a little dubious about my booking as my confirmation email (received the day before) stated there were ongoing building renovations and I should used the rear entrance to access the hotel. I wasn't able to check in any earlier than 4pm but I was able to leave my luggage so I could have a look around Chester hands free. Once I returned to check in the staff were very helpful and courteous even though they were hampered by a very slow check in process (there's a notice on the wall behind reception warning you the new system is slow! I didn't check in online but wished I had). My room was lovely and clean and comfortable, the bathroom must have been newly renovated as it was excellent. In the morning I did hear the work men just after 8am which wasn't a problem. Overall my stay was good but the highlight of my visit was the staff from reception to housekeeping and even the work men said good morning, excellent customer service, well done.

Having to walk through a building site & go up and down a floor to the room. And getting cleaning staff opening our bedroom door without knocking while getting dressed 2 times hours before checking out time wasn’t pleasant

Check in could be earlier than 4pm ( although we were accommodated on arrival).

Location is great. Near station to visit family nearby but also a short walk from the city centre and all the attractions. Room was extremely clean and fairly quiet for the location.

I’m struggling to find something. The only slight issue was the width of the doors for my wheelchair. I’m not wide and it was a close shave with some of them but they’re mostly all doubles so not really an issue and there’s always a staff member more than willing to help. I imagine if I’d asked they would have sent someone juat to open doors for me!

Despite the major refurbishment project going on, it was hardly noticeable and the staff dealt with all our questions and my additional needs as a wheelchair traveller exceptionally well. They were all friendly, polite, thoughtful and aware of my needs. It’s clear that they’ve all received a high level of training and they want to make your stay the very best it can be.

While we understand they were under construction, the staff seemed to be confused/disorganized. Almost as though all the senior staff had left and the entire crew was new. They were all extremely polite, and kind but there seemed to be a lot of people we asked who only knew their job.

We loved the history, and how close to the train station and the shopping it was.

Paying to park is tedious, and an extra cost. I'd rather know up front what my parking costs are. Staff are getting to grips with their new booking system and this seemed to slow things down, and need a lot of time to check in - but process was smooth if slow.. There was also some confusion as I booked 2 rooms and this seemed to break things - but all sorted in the end, and the staff were 10/10 super helpful, so it wasn't a big negative, and I'm sure it will settle down.

Nice place, decent room, decent breakfast, staff really helpful. There is, as they clearly state, some refurbishment work going on, but this didn't impact the hotel running, and we didn't notice excess noise, paint fumes or any negative impact. Would happily stay here again.

T.V. had no radio channels. Hair drier did not work. There were no biscuits/ chocolates.

Great location for rail traveller. Also handy for bus and restaurants.
