Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe apartment is very hot and hard to cool down and being on a very busy main road opposite the train station makes it very noisy with the windows open.
Apartment is beautifully decorated throughout and has a perfect central location.

United KingdomYou could have mentioned the £100 deposit at the time the booking was paid for and confirmed. You could have sent the e-mails asking for the £100 deposit to the company I work for who paid the bill and communicated with you. I just needed the post code and the confirmation that it was booked which I got on 1/11/23. After that e-mail I didn’t bother checking any of the other 10 e-mails they sent a week later because it looked like spam and I don’t need any more details. They all said lovely single apartment in Eastleigh and without my glasses I can’t read the small stuff anyway. You could have, should have etc but you don’t care anyway do you booking.com plenty more dumbo’s like me hey. You don’t need my custom again and you won’t get it. The video is going viral by the way, enjoy and thanks for a stressful 4 nights. I booked the Superior room at a beautiful Spa hotel for 5th night and was treated like a King, They are getting an excellent review. Including a mention of my bad experience with michell house and booking.com and the contrast. It was only £75 for a night there, great value for money. No smells of heroin coming under the other guests doors either which was nice!!
No reception no open doors all code locked no intercom to speak to anybody. WiFi router didn’t work, DSL cable doesn’t connect on network test results by Xbox. Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Zero hospitality to guests, the host told me something like this happens with lots of guests all the time. Didn’t even let me in to use the toilet after a 3 hour drive or park in the car park until the £100 deposit was paid. No mention of the £100 deposit at the time we paid for 5 nights and I got an e-mail to say booking confirmed and paid for. I didn’t book the room my company books my accommodation I just take the post code for my sat nav and stay somewhere different every week. Never had a problem before but this is our first and last time using booking.com. I was made to walk 3 minutes from the back door to front door to meet a host who wasn’t there. Then told by another unidentified person they didn’t know who sent me to front I need to go to the back. No body there again, then after another phone call to their office I’m told to go back to the front. I just need the toilet all this while. They told me I can’t park in the car park because deposit wasn’t paid snd then got me an illegal parking ticket on private land which was outlawed last year and booking.com refused to acknowledge this. The deposit had been paid! I was understandably furious with this customer service as I work with customers to make sales every day. The host had no identification to say he was anything to do with this accommodation no uniform and didn’t have a clue what was going on. Absolutely the worst I’ve seen in 30 years doing this. You can read my lovely review for the Bear in Havant from July this year where I give them a lovely review. Booking.com are going to get the exact opposite because of there unwillingness to help.

Brazilwhat I didn't like doesn't depend on the employees, on the street there is a sewer cover that is loose, so when cars and/or buses pass by, the noise is very annoying
it was a very good stay, when requested I was promptly attended, excellent
