Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe notice above the thermostat in the kitchen: the information written in red could potentially be interpreted as passive aggressive, particularly the paragraph regarding the maximum temperature. In my opinion (I am assuming this notice does not change for the winter period & I am also assuming this property is available to rent during the winter period), if one is paying to rent a property such as this short term, one should be able to increase the temperature if needed beyond 21 degrees, at their own discretion without the ‘owners being emailed’ to alert, if the weather dictates. There are also certain health conditions which people may have which does not allow them to regulate their body temperature. There was a used/worn down nail brush in the bathroom window which would have harboured bacteria - I am not sure of its purpose. The area between the bathroom window rubber & glass was black with dirt which I was able to scrape off with my nail. There was a lot of mould around the bathroom window. The plug hole in the bath had a fair amount of hair in it. I am quite particular about plug holes & do always check plug holes anywhere I stay for cleanliness. Crumbs in the fridge on arrival. Bits of food attached to the oven shelf. Tomato seeds in the sink.

United KingdomThe heating is restricted to 20°C which I think is wrong as, there is a note to state that if you set it to 20°C it'll heat to ,21°C which is "more than sufficient"... This is a matter of opinion and as someone who has a toddler and a newborn baby, I would have liked to have been able to increase the temperature at least by a couple of degrees; maybe to around 23°C occasionally, especially in the night when the bungalow goes very cold (16/17°C) when the heating isn't on. Also, if you're allowing the bungalow to be heated to 21°C, at least allow the guests to set it at 21°C, not 20 as we set it to 20°C and it did not always reach 21°C. The note also states that if the property reaches above 21°C the owner will be alerted and the temperature decreased which again, I feel is wrong. I understand that you're trying to be eco friendly and keep costs down but I think the limit ought to be 23°C at least to allow for people who like to be very warm and for people with very young infants/children.
Beautiful, spacious bungalow, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Some lovely added touches of milk and biscuits provided. Great location. Lovely views also, enjoyable stay.

United Kingdom-Unfortunately the bathroom suffers with a condensation problem, due to the fantastic shower. Tiles could in the shower could do with a clean though. -Not a negative, but the property could benefit from a dishwasher.
-The space in the property allowed for everyone to have their own individual spaces, but nice communal spaces too. -Beds and sofa were comfortable. -Good TV -Modernised bungalow -Good value for money

United KingdomOnly that we found the shower base slippery when wet, so a non slip rubber mat might be an idea for the future, especially for older people like us (in our 70s). In fairness, we did not get round to mentioning that to Carol.
The bungalow was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Our host Carol was very helpful and understanding in going out of her way to fetch extra bedding when my husband was unwell. The location was good as a central point for exploring the Brecon Beacons east and west, as well as visiting Swansea and Cardiff.
