Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOnly thing I'd say would be to update the photos of the property. The photos on Booking.com don't do the house justice and there are far too many of them, some of them not current anymore due to some changes for the better. We were very pleasantly surprised on arrival at the house.
2 minutes walk to lovely beach. House exceeded our expectations..was so clean and smelt lovely when we walked in. Photos really don't do it justice. We mostly visited Buttermere which didn't take long to get to and was so lovely and less touristy than some of the lakes. Would definitely come back to your lovely house again.

United KingdomThe double bed was small but appropriate for the size of the room. I was concerned about there not being an enclosed outside space for the dog but it’s so close to a recreation ground and the beach/ park that it wasn’t a problem. We soon got used to it and the dog loved exploring. When they say there’s a hotel behind the property, it’s literally behind it, you face straight on to it through the back windows. We used the bar and it was friendly and reasonably priced.
The location of this property is superb. You walk out of the cul de sac, turn right and you are at the beach car park. The beach is dog friendly and being off season, it was quiet. The house is nicely decorated, clean and smells lovely. There is pretty much everything you could need there (except a dishwasher but there would be no space for one).

United KingdomBacks on to hotel which can be noisy if a function on. It was unfortunate for us there was a wedding there during our stay, but did not hinder us too much.
Very comfortable modern home so close to the beach with everything we needed for our stay.

United KingdomThin walls, could hear neighbours but not noisy. Quiet at night . No view, kitchen looks on to front of tired looking hotel. Back mostly looks on to houses . Nowhere to sit outside.
Proximity to clean beach (no plastic!) and walks. House had absolutely everything required. We were able to control heating. Very clean property. Very unspoilt area. No litter.

United KingdomEverything was great aside from the house backs on to the hotel reception area which was quite noisy some evenings due to functions and live music etc. But again, it's also handy to have a bar nearby, so not all bad!!
Lovely little house, very clean and in a great location right next to the beach and local amenities. Just a short walk in to the main village which is lovely and has a couple of nice pubs and a convenience store. Parking right outside the house on the drive. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need and the beds were very comfortable. All towels and bedding provided were nice and fresh. Whitehaven is also well worth a visit as it's a nice walk around the harbour area and plenty of good eating places. The owner let us stay a little longer on our check-out day which was very handy for us with our child and very much appreciated.

United KingdomNothing negative to comment on at all.
The house is very well equipped with everything you could need. Warm and cosy, shower is great, beds were all comfy, the lounge was nice to relax and kitchen is very good. Wi-Fi worked well and the property has it's own parking space too. The location is excellent, being just a short walk from St Bees beach, next to the Seacote hotel, which has a bar and serves food. St Bees beach is lovely, great for families with a good park and Hartley's ice cream in the tea bar. The head is the start of the coast to coast walk too. When the tide is out the sandy beach is good to walk on, play football and fly kites.
