Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

FranceMy car was damaged tail light broken paint work damaged. the next door neighbour s were drinking and fighting all night. the police were called I do not recommend this place we didn't feel safe here. and host would not take any responsibility for the damage witch was parked on her driveway..when we spoke she said it was on a public street .and to top it all off we ran out of electricity pay you go electricity its a joke stay clear

United KingdomThere is more than 1 number 11 in the street so we nearly entered the wrong home. The shower head was not fixed and would not stay up making a shower impossible. The shower was extremely dirty with a large build up of grime. The sink plug was not operational. The apartment furnishings were very badly damaged. We never used the kitchen at all so cannot comment on its cleanliness or facilities. The living room doubles as a bedroom but the door has a window which can be looked into right through to where you sleep. I would recommend covering this. One remote did not have batteries and when sourced would not work the tv. There is no aerial meaning i relied on my own streaming account to watch tv.
The location was ideal and not too far, great public transport links.

United KingdomThe Place smelt so bad of damp mould on the walls the back garden was disgusting dirty nappy bags everywhere the furniture was all batered and needs replaced. There is no signal or wifi in the whole apartment. The communication with the owner was really bad I was getting emails with different pin codes for the key pad its look 4 different codes before we could get into it and the owner never give us a check out time or replied to my message when i asked what time we had to leave at.The neighbours beside us got there door put in at 8 o'clock this morning and the day before they were up partying till 5 in the morning. I just got home when I got a private number call from a cleaning company that wouldn't disclose what company but the threatened me with a fine and that they were going to call the police for "drug use and bags of coke and heroine neddels all over the apartment" which we would never do and apprently we had boys round to the apartment when we never had anyone accept the 3 people booked to stay in it. After screaming down the phone at me for 10 minutes she realised she got the wrong address and it was actually a apparently in city centre didn't even apologise for her accusations or rudness and hung up.

United KingdomThe cleaning standards wasn’t very high but was good enough to stay without complaining. I think it’s just a change in cleaning services the host uses, everything was cleaned down apart from wood work ie doors skirting boards and pvc windows just letting the cleaners know to not miss these would solve the situation. No upkeep of the garden but we didn’t need to use it so wasn’t a problem for us. I did read other reviews and all of them wasn’t an issue for us. The tv can be connected to your phone so watched Netflix both nights. And a sheet could be put up at the front door to stop the lighting coming in. Also plenty of cushions on the sofa for the sofa bed, but pillows would be better but didn’t make a big difference. None of this bothered us at all and we had a very pleasant stay. Host was lovely and easy to contact if issues. Didn’t need heating as its august but was a fire in the living room if needed and plenty of extra bedding and towels if needed. £7 in Uber to the city centre and a two minute walk to a mcds and kfc and shopping centre

IrelandGlass in front and middle door not tinted or covered with a blind/curtain so no privacy from passers by and street lights shining in. Doors very hard to close, in the kitchen flooring is lifting up. Shower turned hot and then cold no in between. No pillows for pull out couch only a quilt found in the wardrobe. Could hear the pipes behind the pull out couch so not a great nights sleep

United KingdomLack of communication with the owner. When I booked this apartment a month before my stay, I provided our check-in time, no back message. Two days before our stay I send an email with my preferred check-in time. I don't get any reply. I am sending a message through booking.com when I arrive in Belfast how can we get into the apartment asking for the code to get the keys no answer. When we arrived to the apartment address, I called the owner several times, no response. My husband and I waited in front of the apartment for an hour trying to contact the owner by calling and texting no results We returned to the city center. After a few hours the owner of the apartment called me back giving me the code for the keys. Before that, we found another place to stay. I proposed to the landlord that she return half of the amount already paid to me, she did not agree.
