Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt can be a tad noisy, with a bedroom above the room I was staying in, and the water pressure in the shower isn't amazing, but as long as you have music on and you're happy with taking a little longer than usual to wash your hair, the room is always well-prepared and the WiFi is generally great.
Despite not having the key box code when I arrived, the lady owner was very happy to come out and help me get access to the place. I always stay here when I come to Reading for work and the people are lovely.

United KingdomYou can hear the main house through the walls but since we were mostly out this didn't affect us too much.
The flat was clean, comfortable, a good location only 20 minutes walk from town and was perfect for our 1 night stay. The kitchen is tiny and took a little juggling with the space but was well equipped for it's size and worked well for us.

United KingdomDespite it saying non-smokers only, the room did smell like cigarettes when I first went in.
It took me 2 drives past to find the driveway in the dark, but that was fine. The driveway was plenty big enough for my car and two others. The instructions provided by the lady were perfect, and there was heated flooring in the "flat". Very spacious, warm despite the weather, and very accommodating for meals and such. There was a hotplate and extractor and cookware provided in the little kitchenette, which surprised and impressed me. I've seen a few reviews mention the shower - it was fine, it's a single shower cubicle. The water pressure isn't amazing but I had no issues with hot water or with getting myself clean. Lovely little place, very comfortable, will definitely stay there again.

United KingdomThe shower was OK but not great. A trickle of warmish water and a very small cubicle & opening. Fine for me but my husband wouldn’t have fitted in if he’d been with me. Mattress was very soft but that may suit some people.
Felt safe in this pleasant location in a residential road near the Archives. Convenient for onward travel to the West. Clean and had everything I needed for an overnight stay.

Lovely quiet location, comfortable and some really good facilities . Loved the Wi-Fi revives and it had all we needed, hot plate, microwave, tv, kettle and all we needed for tea and coffee, just remember to bring milk for your hot drinks. The bed was very comfortable and there was a good, but noisy, fan. It was lovely and clean.

United KingdomIt is a 40 min walk to Whiteknights campus Uni of Reading but I discovered you could take 2 buses there or catch the 21 Uni bus to Crown Street and then walk 20 mins to the studio, so this was actually okay.
A spacious, bright studio with all the facilities I needed for a week's stay. Especially the fridge, microwave and mini kitchen. In a residential area so mostly quiet. A 20min easy walk from town and the train station. I was very comfortable here and I would most certainly stay again.

United KingdomThe bathroom was too small and the shower (grouting in between tiles) was dirty. The studio apartment was cold with no way of adjusting the temperature due to the thermostat being controlled by the owner. When I asked about the heating I was told that as soon as the temp drops below 20 deg the heating will come on. We arrived in the afternoon (3.30pm) & the flat was cold. We didn’t worry as we only stayed long enough to put our luggage in the flat before going to my aunties 100th bday party. We got back to the flat around 11.15pm & found it freezing. I had to pull the fridge/microwave away from the radiator control & found that it was already in the highest setting but the radiator was cold. I thought i would be warm enough in bed but then realised 2 too windows next to the bed were open. I couldn’t close the windows so rang the owner who came down & managed to close them. I asked about the heating & the owner felt the radiator and said that the heating warms the whole building & as the windows were open the building upstairs was getting warm but the flat was cold due to the open windows? The owner said he could boost the boiler & I said as I would be sleeping I think we would be ok with the windows now closed. Once again I queried that the flat would be warm in the morning & the owner re-assured me the heating was on continuously & when the temp drops below 20 deg the radiator will come on. I had a terrible nights sleep & when I got up around 3am tge radiator was still cold. When my husband & I got up at 8.30am we kept our coats on while we ate our breakfast. We had a miserable stay. The dirty shower was off putting and simply not acceptable when anti mould sprays are available to ensure the shower remains mould free. I have included a pic of the tiny space (toilet) for info purposes.
Looked good from the outside and had free parking. When I experienced an issue I was able to contact the owner who sorted the issue quickly despite it being almost midnight.
