How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

It could have been a little tricky in the house for people with mobility issues. There isn't a designated parking space but we were able to park nearby in the street the majority of the time.
The location was practical and close to the town centre. It was also peaceful when we stayed. Overall, we found that the property was so well designed, with everything we needed, that we were able to switch off as soon as we arrived.

The property was fantastic and the host was very responsive so ticked all boxes. The renovation of the original building is beautiful. The bath was a real treat and the kitchen had everything you need. Would love to come back!

light switches difficult to adjust...attempted all permutations ..especially when going to bed and turning lights off in bedroom. We were rather unhappy about the hidden costs as the 200 pounds deposit was not mentioned until the last minute; also 97 pounds for cleaning; house rule rigid and coercive ...made one fearful of making any errors

Just the light switches were difficult to use to get lights on and off. Had to leave some as unable to get switch to work to turn off

Parking is an issue. There is on street-parking except that there are never any vacant spots. Not a negative for us but the steep stairs (no handrail) would not suit everyone.
Tastefully and thoughtfully furnished. Quiet location. Very comfortable bed. Super clean. Very well equipped, including some useful supplies, like much appreciated coffee! Good sized bathroom.

Perfect location in a quiet village to discover the beautiful Cotswolds. The accommodation is an old characteristic house but with a modern indoors. Well equipped with everything you need.

Better instructions on recycling . Somewhere to sit in yard/garden. Furniture in sitting room not conducive for comfort when wanting to relax and watch tv in the evening. Could have done with visitor information in cottage, best places to eat / visit etc

The light switches! Still can't figure out which switch belongs to which light!! haha!
I had never heard of Malmesbury before I found this apartment on Booking.com and it has been one of the treasures of this trip. Everything was beautiful, the host was very responsive, welcoming and provided some great advice on walks in the area and the apartment was an absolutely wonderful, thoughtful and luxurious modern upgrade to a beautiful old building. Malmesbury itself is a joy. I loved everything about it, from the glorious manuscripts at the Abbey, the walks in the area, the beautiful stonework of the buildings, the shops, the Old Bell Hotel coffee, and the welcome that the people of the town gave to us as (respectful) tourists.

There wasn’t any bubble bath for the copper tub, although we did leave some behind for the next guests! It was very difficult to get parking outside and we didn’t manage to find the free car park nearby so did have to park about a 10-15 min walk away
Really great location in such a wonderful little town. The owner has really thought of everything and ensured that the kitchen was stocked with anything you’d need for a weekend away! Will definitely be making a trip back :)

Nothing was really outstanding. No electric car charging. Very steep walk up into the town.
It was a self catering cottage. It was in a quiet location and adequate for our needs. All the equipment we required was available. Overall quite a pleasant place to stay in Malmsbury.

The parking was very hit and miss, I don't think you should really be advertising parking on the ad for the property as its certainly not guaranteed and does get very busy at weekends. One of the guests had to park in a car park and walk to the house. If you can't get a nearby space you'd have to quickly unload the car and block the road to unload your bags. That said I'd rent the house again as it was so lovely
Property was beautifully decorated, clean and cosy. Appreciated the useful items in the kitchen cupboard such as spices, foil etc.
