Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only unfavourable fact is the property (due to demand) is rarely available. I’m sure I will return (even if I need to plan well in advance ).
My favourite place. 2nd-time visit and it's as stunning as the first time. I have an emotional connection with Polperro and visit regularly and The Sail Locker is my new favourite place to stay. Immaculately clean, centrally located, and furnished to an elevated standard.

United KingdomI wouldn’t change a thing about my stay
Immaculate! A wonderful cottage in the heart of Polperro. As stylish as the pictures and a grade above most. The amount of small but meaningful touches enhanced my short break ( linen quality, Welcome basket, Digital guest books etc). A squeaky clean place to rest your head and explore. This is one of the best locations and holiday cottages I’ve stayed in. Highly recommend and will definitely return next time I’m in Cornwall.

United KingdomNoisy dehumidifier that we were unable to switch off at night. Ventilation to get wet gear dry wasn’t so great
Great location and very cosy. Comfortable bed, great facilities (oven, tv, great shower!)

United KingdomThe cottage was in a fantastic location and having parking was a bonus. We were fine with the walk to the parking, it is not far but it is steep (as described). Polperro was really lovely and we had a wonderful stay there with Sail Locker acting as a great base to explore. Communication before the stay was fantastic and we had all the information that we needed. The Sail Locker was the perfect size for the two of us and beautifully done up and styled. It had all that we could need for a few days away. The bed was nice and comfy and the stream running past was very cute - the whole cottage had a lovey cozy feel.

United KingdomGood things come in small packages! Our Particular highlights: - The nest thermostat was particularly intuitive - A thoughtful welcome pack to kickstart the break. - Free parking ( yes it's up a hill!) but far better than paying £40 for the weekend in the main village carpark. -Original artwork illustrating the beauty of its surrounding areas. I felt this was more authentic than some of the generic gift shop prints found elsewhere. -kitchen equipment was of the highest quality. -The bed and bedding are exceptional and allow for a comfortable night's sleep. My summary; The space is snug without feeling cramped and everything has a premium feel. If you require a huge open expansive space then this isn't going to be for you. However, if you are looking for genuine Cornish weekend moments from the hustle and bustle of the village then you will have a blast!

Fantastic hosts. Fantastic location. The cottage is very tastefully decorated and the river running outside the bedroom is idyllic. It's very cosy. Would highly recommend this place to stay. Wish we could have stayed longer..

United KingdomA beautifully presented cottage tucked into the heart of Polperro. The attention to detail was flawless and the high-spec kitchen is one of the best I’ve ever seen in any holiday accommodation. You can see the owners have used every inch of space to its maximum and everything we needed for an enjoyable weekend was available. I’m not hugely interested in the tech ( I preferred a book and a view of the River Pol from the window seat), but my husband was particularly impressed with the premium TV picture quality and we both made good use of the Amazon speaker. Finally, part of our experience was in the pre-planning and the owner's digital guidebook was invaluable to our stay as this allowed us time to virtually navigate around the Cottage amenities and scan their local recommendations without wasting our time later. We have already decided to rebook this summer and now have a new favourite hideaway to stay in Cornwall.

United KingdomThe free parking is a quarter of a mile away up a steep hill -- walking back to the car is the equivalent of climbing a 14-storey building. The noise from the upstairs neighbours is considerable -- it sounded like they were trying to get their 10,000 steps in before breakfast! It was difficult to get our towels dry as there is no well-aired hanging space.
The location in the village is very good. Close to the centre just a few steps from the harbour and three of the four pubs. The river view is quite limited but we spotted a few ducks and a cormorant in the brief time we spent looking out of the window. The bed was comfortable and the space for our belongings was adequate. Our hosts were very quick to respond by email when we had a query.
