Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. We loved it.
Everything. The location was fabulous and the log cabin was beautiful. The surrounding area was amazing. We stayed for a couple of nights as we were getting married in Gretna Green. The lovely owners allowed my family to stay over on the second night. Which was so kind of them. They also put up some wedding decorations for us and even left us a bottle of bubbly and a card. Thank you so much for making our wedding day so special. We will be back.

United KingdomThere was not much we could complain about to be honest as it was pretty much perfect. Only really two things that we could mention. 1- The two sofa beds were a bit old, squeaky and hard to pull in and out however the owners did advise us they have new ones coming next week so that problem is already being dealt with and by the time anyone reads this to book for future they will have been replaced. 2- There were quite a few wasps turning up when trying to eat outside but then it is to be expected at this time of year when they are starting to die off and nothing much that anyone can do about that. There were badminton rackets on the porch which we used to play wasp tennis.
The lodge was better than we even expected it to be. It was spotlessly clean and also had a little welcome pack of provisions such as pasta, sauces, milk, tea coffee and even a few beers were left in the fridge for us arriving. There were three of us and the bed up at the top and then two pull out couch beds fitted us in perfectly without feeling too cramped. Luckily for us the weather was great so we were able to use the large BBQ outside as a fire pit and spent the majority of our time outside. There were plenty of logs to use to burn. The owners house is far enough away that we didn’t’ t disturb them ( or vice versa ) even when we had later nights outside. The lodge was well stocked with all things you would need to cook with. Plenty of pots and pans, baking trays, cutlery etc. You really don’t need to bring anything. WiFi worked perfectly. The freeview tv on the wall has a built in dvd player and also has one spare HDMI slot so we could plug in our fire stick and stream anything we needed. The hosts were so welcoming and accommodating. We asked to stay on later with a late check out and as the lodge was not booked till the following day they let us with no problems. We have already contact Tracey to book our return trip next summer.

United KingdomEverything was great for us! Its an old traditional log cabin so perfectly imperfect. It might not be for everyone as its secluded so no shops, pubs etc etc within walking distance, and some of the decor and decking a little warn but for us that didn't matter. For those that are tall or not nibble on their feet, he mezzanine has limited head space and steep steps. We had a lovely stay. Thank you Tracey and her family.
Secluded location, traditional log cabin with log burner. Plenty of outdoor space, watching pheasants and deers past your door, while swallows nesting above. Great host who goes the extra mile (including a bottle of fizz on arrival as we had just got married). Good WiFi for watching Netflix and firestick on rainy days. Nice fluffy towels and bathmat, plenty of cooking equipment and basics to get you started.

United KingdomThe sofas were somewhat uncomfortable. They were well used but I don’t think that’s a problem if they are comfy. It would also be great if there were some throws/blankets supplied for relaxing in the main lounge area as it was quite chilly in the mornings, even in July.
The lodge was really lovely and overall great value. The hosts were very helpful, sending detailed directions ahead of time and making sure we knew to ask for anything we needed during our visit. The location was lovely and peaceful and there was loads of green space directly outside the lodge for the dog to explore. Lots of do dvds and board games supplied within the lodge. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. There was also a welcome pack of milk, butter, tea/coffee and a bottle of Prosecco - lovely touch.
