Wi-Fi was completely useless so marked down for that but there was a 4G signal.

Stayed as part of our NC500 tour. Nicely decorated hotel set in a Scotland Forestry country park with miles of trails to walk and bike. Good reception. All members of staff friendly towards us and our dog. Unable to eat with the dog in the restaurant as expected but they set up a lovely table in the pleasant lounge. Quiet area but not too far from Dumfries and convenient for the journey south (or North toward Glasgow and Loch Lomond). Room comfortable. Decent electric shower. Would be the choice to stay again if in the area.

Not really a problem Lots of stairs to our room as we wanted one with a walk in shower , we were told before hand about it, which was fine for us and good of them to e mail and tell us . Might be difficult for less mobile people

Perfect place to stay for exploring this area. Loved the building, lots of character . Large room(15) with a very comfy bed The staff were very friendly at all times Good breakfast, we ate in the restaurant both nights, exceptional food both times highly recommend eating and staying there Bonus was the resident parrot who said hello everytime you passed him! Definitely stay here again

A beautiful location, very comfortable room with very helpful staff made this a lovely place to spend a night in between travels. Lovely food in the restaurant and breakfast too! Very good value for money.

Difficult because of layout of building, but if pushed would say lack of "cosey" individual seating areas for singles/couples partaking of pre dinner drinks or after dinner coffee/drinks or even a leisurely cup of their excellent coffee.

I liked the ambience of the hotel, it was friendly without being obsequious. The food, that I had was very good including the excellent breakfast. If I am ever in the area again I will certainly choose this hotel (as long as it remains as it is).

Water in the shower could have been a bit hotter. There was no shampoo in the bathroom which was unfortunate as I had forgotten mine....not major issues at all and didn't spoil our visit

This is a very comfortable classic country house hotel. The staff were helpful, attentive and friendly. The public rooms are oak panelled, comfortably furnished and traditionally decorated. Ample parking right outside the front door, nice grounds around the house leading easily up onto a variety of paths into the hills which rise up behind the hotel. Ideal for couples, families, dog walking, biking hiking or relaxing. Rooms were comfortable (if bedroom views are important ask for a room at the front of the hotel) and we enjoyed the meals we took at the hotel. Special mention of the staff who were all delightful and also for Basil the parrot who lives at the foot of the stairway to the upper floors.

Lack of signage on the first floor. Got lost a few times.

Good choice for breakfast enjoyed the porridge and fruit. Vegetarian options for the evening meal were limited on the menu but the chef came up with some excellent specials for vegies.

Beautiful location a few miles outside Dumfries set in lovely grounds. Good car parking, although the shared road leading up to the property did have some nasty potholes - go slowly! (Not the hotel's fault.) Welcoming, warm, clean, very spacious room. Slightly old-fashioned apart from the modernised bathroom, but all in a charming way; everything was in good order. One of the few hotels I had an evening meal at, which was amazing, as backed up by other visitors I talked to. I kept to a minimum breakfast, but it all looked superb with excellent service. All this was good, but at the price it was amazing.
