How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Warning of scaffolding over the front of the hotel would have helped. Room not getting cleaned until 4pm and only after twice chasing. Didn't appreciate the concierge taking an Asian lady to task loudly and publicly over confusion with her booking. (The same concierge told me that the hotel have until 5pm to clean the rooms!)
Location is perfect. Hotel was quite modern inside and the bar staff were friendly.

There was no view plus the scaffolding that could not be help as repair was going on. The car park was difficult to find st first
The location was excellent Breakfast was very good , there was different choice. To be fair other than the size of the room for two which was. Small it was good I did not get to spend the two nights paid for had to leave to have an eye surgery

We had difficulty finding the hotel because of the scaffolding that was up at the time.we stayed. One of the rooms we had booked didn't have a second comfortable chair even though it was a double room.
We were attending an event at Windsor Castle and the location couldn't have been better. The parking was expensive but the concierge was lovely and very flexible about the time when we needed to leave. The breakfast was excellent.

When we arrived we had to be dropped off at the rear of the building as we were arriving by private car. The confusion arose when we requested help to get our luggage upstairs (we were told the door was locked to the lift, but as it turns out it was not). We waited for 10 minutes when I finally walked thru a retail store next door to get to front entry. Better signage would have been appreciated along with more help.
Location was excellent!! So close to Windsor Castle! We walked to dinner at The Boatman and it was an easy walk (dinner was superb!).

Due to issues with a hotel next door, I ended up cancelling and booking at the Macdonald. Within 10 minutes of checking in they had the child bed brought up and made.

Was a little disappointed with the reception staff no way near as helpful as the first time we stayed. But saying that the concierge staff made up for that.
Property was amazing and clean and nice and central and second time staying and will be definitely staying again. The concierge staff were amazing and very helpful nothing to much trouble for them

Would have liked better selection of toiletries in bathroom & maybe robes .Restaurant not much choice & felt quality of steak poor.

Only upon booking in were we informed the room we paid extra for (with views) had scaffolding obliterating the view. That was disappointing. Whilst out if their control we would appreciate being told prior to paying extra.

No fridge in the room, only a cooler that is no real benefit. There is no phone charging point in the rooms. Poorly lit areas for coffee making.

Bath quite high so difficult to step into. Parking very expensive.

Being woken at 2.30am by the hotel emptying all its glass bottles into the bins under my bedroom window!!!
