Absolutely nothing. We had a wonderful stay.

Clean, well maintained, central to amenities and to scenic area and yet quiet. Private parking and lovely private garden. Many extras provided by the hosts who were friendly and attentive.

    The weather.

From the outside the house looks rather ordinary. Inside though; tasteful furnishings, very comfortable, and well equiped, with a lovely garden. Don't believe the photos - everything is even better than it looks.

One of the cleanest properties I’ve ever stayed in, couldn’t want for more it has everything you could possibly want, such a beautiful location and feels like home away from home - I couldn’t believe the whole thing was for us to use, it’s such a nice cottage. We absolutely loved it and will be back again!

    Nothing to improve on.

The house was spotlessly clean, comfy and well appointed, we especially loved the log burner. The location is so handy for the train station and also Church Stretton is a charming town to visit. Sylvie couldn't have been a better host, she left us homemade cake, beers and coconut milk (all vegan after I notified before arrival our dietary requirements). The bathroom had lots of lovely body products which were all eco friendly. Sylvie let us have a late check out after I asked if it would be possible which was so handy for us travelling by train with two very small children. Couldn't recommend this place more. The price was also about half the amount it would have cost us to stay in Shrewsbury centre.

The provision of essentials and extras. Milk in the fridge, a homemade cake and tea bags for first night were especially welcome. As we were only staying 3 nights it was nice not to have to buy/bring items such as washing up liquid, kitchen roll, shampoo.

There was a manual on how to operate the oven, but manuals for other appliances would have been useful. A text to the owner about the heating went unanswered but we figured it out. A power outage was a bit of a shock but a quick call to the owner on where the fuse box was located provided the information we needed to fix the problem.

Convenient, well equipped, clean, off street parking a big plus. Cup cakes on arrival were delicious. Lots of little extras like a plentiful supply of tea and coffee, milk, pantry items and an array of toiletries were great. Lovely fireplace too!

Everything you need is provided and the hosts were generous in supplying over and above. Cereals and 1 liter milk, plenty of coffee, tea, sugar, salt, couple bottles of beer, and a homemade loaf. They also provide more than one bath towel, hand towel or tea towel. This place felt like they valued our booking. There is a washing machine and a drying rack with a room to put it up. It felt like a home away from home. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Water pressure was great. Own off road parking right at the door. Central to the amazing walking trails (or running) which you can walk to from the accommodation. The town center is a 3 minute drive and the train station is within walking distance. We loved our 5 day stay here and would highly recommend.

This was a return visit to Magnolia cottage and once again we were delighted with the quality of the accommodation. Thoughtful touches such as homemade cake and good quality toiletries reflect the care that the home owners take to ensure guests receive a warm welcome. Church Stretton provides the perfect base for a walking holiday and easily accessible day trips to Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Leominster and other local tourist attractions. We hope to return again in future.

Charming and Comfortable house in the Picturesque Village of Church Stretton

Could do with more space for suitcases and clothes in the bedroom

Nestled in a picturesque village, Magnolia Cottage was the perfect place to experience the beauty and tranquility of South Shropshire. It truly is a charming and comfortable house, equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The tastefully furnished rooms reflect the character of this period home, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the warmth of the log burner on chilly evenings. The spacious, fully equipped kitchen allowed us to prepare delicious meals. Large bath and bathroom. Super comfy beds. The lovely English garden, adorned with magnificent magnolia and fruit trees, provided a delightful spot for enjoying a morning coffee (although we weren't fortunate enough to have an evening barbecue due to the rain!). Just a short 5-minute walk away is Church Stretton's town center, offering a variety of small interesting shops, restaurants, and pubs (including a nearby Co-Op within walking distance!). During our stay, we were lucky enough to be there for the Coronation weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the local celebrations at the institute and church. The local population was incredibly friendly and welcoming! Church Stretton is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, offering exceptional opportunities for hill walking. We explored the Long Mynd area, embarking on a 15 km walk, and also ventured to Knighton and Ludlow, which are both within easy reach by car.

Excellent accommodation which was very comfortable , spotlessly clean and well equipped. A perfect place to stay in for a few days away, there were some lovely personal touches on arrival especially the fresh local milk and 2 bottles of local beer. Location was ideal for our needs with a very short walk to the town centre and a slightly longer walk to the beautiful Carding Mill Valley.
