Service was very slow taking over an hour to get breakfast which wasn’t the best when it arrived Bar service again was very slow when ordering

Great location and nice reception staff on site car parking, with tasty cocktails and a great view from the room

    There wasn’t much I didn’t like.

The hotel was well located in the beautiful suburb of Leith. It was close to trams and lovely cafes and historic pubs. Walking distance to the Britannia and about 5 tram stops away from central Edinburgh. I also loved the historic architecture of the building.

Room could have been cleaner...dust on ledges and under bed found crumbs and paper. Think a staff shortage was to blame...but on the whole sinks, toilet etc were all spotless.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good near tram to go into city centre. Nice restaurants nearby. Private car park was good.

It's a great location! Breakfast was good!

Interesting building with great History! The interiors don't reflex the building which is sad! The decor is pretty dated and tired! Never met one Scottish member of Staff!

Relaxing stay in a good hotel

Overall, the room was a little tired. The bathroom extractor fan did not work so we had a sauna experience. Reported the fault but not remedied during the stay. Nothing else of note.

Free car parking for a good standard hotel is hard to come by, so is a definite plus. The staff were very helpful and always said hello in the passing. When we made a request to the front desk it was attended to within minutes, which was also most helpful. Hotel was clean and has a lovely waterfront location. Easy access to good public transport into the centre of Edinburgh. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Dinner menu limited and expensive. Taps wonky. Shower reluctant to deliver hot water, fixed shower head made it difficult to wash without getting hair wet. Lighting too dim to read, don't want low light all the time. View was a brick wall and scaffolding. Some ventilation fan noise through pipes from other rooms (long after my fan went off). Breakfast nice but fried eggs tended to have set yolks. Gym could have more varied equipment rather than 6 identical running machines. 1cm gap around bathroom window frosting. Decor too understated, particularly corridors. Frosted layer obscured corridor windows - any view would be better. Would be nice if bars could stay open after 11. These are minor points.

Good location, great helpful staff. Good and warm. Bar nice. 24 hour gym. Close to tram.

The rather tired, sombre grey/brown decor became a little wearing after a while. The flush on the toilet in our ensuite was so weak it carried nothing away. It was disappointing to find the floor lamp was non-functional which rendered the room very dark (see comment about decor).

The Malmaison Edinburgh is superbly located in the Leith Docks area. It has a good size car park and it was nice to be upgraded to a big room on checking in.

The extractor fan in the bathroom would not switch off; it ran for the entire period of our stay. The passageway to our room had a problem with squeaking floorboards throughout its length possibly caused by an exposed hot water pipe below?

Location overlooking the old harbour was a delight. Malmaison, though of Victorian origins is a well engineered conversion. The bar area is also well thought out and comfortable. The city tramway stop is close-by, an ideal way to travel up to Edinburgh.
