How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Our hotel stay was pleasant! Jeremy, the owner, warmly welcomed us and was helpful. Rosemary was friendly and took good care of us during breakfast. The hotel's location is fantastic, offering a beautiful beach view. I highly recommend it!

The toiletries should include toothpaste and brush, combs etc, not there. No lunch or dinner facility . No bathroom lock!!
Staff's behaviour, straight forward. Given extra mileage by allowing us to use their freeze for my baby's food. Very near to beach.

I liked everything.

I liked everything. Nothing could have been better !

Hotel Maria was like an easy hotel should be. I had a simple and very clean, comfortable and quiet room. The staff was friendly and always helpful. I really enjoyed the parties for a group of welsh people on the weekend (which they don’t do every week) and don‘t be worried, the rooms are absolutely quiet. The best thing was the location, the sea is right across the street, you could go to the beach in your pyjama. You have two supermarkets within five minutes and the buses to Ryde and Newport are right around the corner. I would definitely come again!

Lack of information re: checkout procedure - ended up assuming leaving the key in the room was sufficient. Listing suggests breakfast can be purchased but it became apparent that along with the bar, the kitchen isn't operating off-season. In summary, would've been nice to see signage indicating the above to prevent the need for guesswork. Would've been nice to have a fridge in the room/access to a fridge.

It was near the end of the season, but the bar was never open and apart from two very short greetings, we only ever saw the ladies that cleaned the rooms. One of them even had to check us out as nobody else was there.
On the seafront. Very clean. Convenient for beach, shops and places to eat.

bathroom very narrow, shower door did not close fully, there was no soap and the towels were bleach stained and smelled like they had been used before and just dried or recycled.

TV didn't work in my room, which wasn't too big an issue as we had two rooms where the other TV was ok.
Great centralised location literally opposite the beach and with shops, restaurants and buses all within walking distance. Staff were excellent and make you feel very welcomed throughout. Big screen TV by the lobby to be viewed by all guests. Parking facilities right outside the hotel.

The room could have been cleaner. I wanted to mention to them that the chamber maids are letting them down a bit. Draws had bits in them, wall had shot on it. Skirting had dust dirt. It wasn't really clean tbh, it was a last minute booking. So i was pleasantly surprised with what I got. Room was tight, bathroom tight. But overall it was OK.
I liked the breakfast and the waitress staff.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location is fabulous and right at the beach. the staff are so friendly and supportive and they treat you like a family, which how exactly you need to feel while on holiday. Sae and secured. We were lucky to have parties and live singing events while our stay, this made the evenings more fun.
